Unfortunately found a "great" way to get out of jury duty

This might be a bit of gallows humor, but I got called up for the jury pool. Not even actual jury duty yet but for the pool they call people up from. It is for the months of October, November and December.

I found the best excuse. As I've explained on other threads, I'm pregnant and the baby has issues that will not allow it to survive long after birth. I called my doctor's office to get an exemption letter. They told me that even women on or near their due dates weren't exempted. But they still provide the letter just in case. I called the secretary over the jury pool and explained things. She said, "Send the letter when you get it. I'll put you down as exempt."

It was probably compassion on her part, but there is a bit of reality to it. Do they really want someone dealing with all the emotional baggage of the diagnosis sitting on a jury to make decisions?

Like I said. A little bit of gallows humor.

I got out of doing jury duty because of my hearing. I went to my ear dr and got a print out of my hearing test and took it in and they said that I didn't have to do jury duty...I mean do you want someone sitting next to you and saying "what did he say" all the time or hearing it wrong. My family gets a kick out of some of my answers to their questions because they have nothing to do with what they asked. Yes sometimes I get upset when they laugh at me but oh well I could have it alot worse.

i was relieved of duty last time i just put down i had fibromyalgia and sitting long periods causes numbness - some days i have the brain fog ( which is rare but if sitting that long causes a flare after day 1 - day 2 might not be good) etc - they exempted me didnt ask for a letter ( which is good because i was dx 5 years or so ago and the dr that dx left the practice and moved and because being so brain foggy when i was dx i cant even remember exactly which group it was )

I got out of jury duty due to financial hardship couldn't leave my job to do jury duty! It worked!

I actually wound up serving on a jury earlier this year and sent someone to prison. I am glad you will not have to serve. It is difficult at best and you have more then enough on your plate it would seem. "hug"
