    Default The Simpsons financial troubles

Apparently money troubles and budget problems are everywhere these days

"In its 23rd year on TV, "The Simpsons" could be on the endangered species list."...

""We believe this brilliant series can and should continue, but we cannot produce future seasons under its current financial model," said Chris Alexander, spokesman for 20th Century Fox Television. He said producers hope a deal can be reached."

Honestly, I don't see how it made it this long. I know it was a smash hit for years but for more then 20 yrs is just crazy.. all good things must come to an end. I won't miss it one bit because there are hundreds of reruns I have yet to see.

I heard this on the radio today and the discussions it was generating...'Whats your favourite Simpsons episode or memory' etc. Hello, the show's not gone and as D'Lotus said, theres more then enough re-runs to help carry on its legacy - IF the show were to be cancelled.

One thing I will agree with from the radio discussion, the fans from the beginning aren't the current audience anymore. "Its not as good as it used to be". But to the newer & younger audience...it seems as good as it 'used to be' to us older folks.

But this theory can apply to a lot of long running shows, right?

And I'll say it - 23 freaking years? Man I feel old! And to think this cartoon series started out from The Tracey Ullman Show. Who'd have thought it'd have lasted this long?

I know... hard to believe it's been on for so long. I haven't watched that show in forever.

I remember what a sensation that was when that show came out. Kids were walking around in tshirts taht said "don't have a cow, man" and "eat my shorts." It was scandalous.

I really hope they keep making the show.

I will respectfully disagree with you guys.

It's one of the only shows that I still watch on TV. I love it. It's not as good as it used to be, no, but it's also better now that it's been at times in the past. I'm a diehard fan, been watching since the beginning, way back when it was horrible lol.

I hope they take they can find a way to reduce costs to keep the show going. While reducing salaries is one way, this show costs an enormous amount to produce, with quite the time lapse between conception and realization. I haven't seen the show in a few years, but was still enjoying it up to then, getting a few laughs out of each episode.

It's also one of the few shows I watch. Love it. Glad it comes in over-the-air. But if they stop making I guess I'll just have to watch the reruns....

Oh, love Futurama too. Worth buying all the DVDs for it.
