Talking What to get my Mother-in-law for Christmas?

    Hey Frugal Village!

You always have some wonderful ideas here.

My Mother-in-law just turned 60 this September, and she has everything and anything she could possibly want. Do you have any ideas of what I could give her as a gift for Christmas that's around the $25 dollar range? she's an amazing woman, she was a SHM for 30years due to the circumstances with my Sister-in-Law(She has a discibility from her actual birth), she was an RN prior to that.

    Thanks,

    Jeanette

You can go to Shutterfly.com or Snapfish.com and make her a calendar. Fill the months with pictures of family and friends using both old and new photos. Don't forget to put a photo of each person on their birthday, anniversaries and other special days. The standard calendar runs about $18.99, plus about $5 shipping. However, I have ordered 4 or more of these every year for the past eight years and have never paid full price for one. They are always offering up some kind of discount.

Can you make her something? Maybe a scrapbook or a yo-yo throw?

How lucky she is to have a DIL like you!! Personally, I would love to have a lunch date with you - wouldn't care where - just the gift of time!!

I got a little towel warmer box for my Mom a couple of Christmases ago...she uses it every single day. You put your bath towel in it before you get in the tub/shower, and when you get out, the towel is heated up for you. She gets cold easily and loves it, and it's pretty small, so it fits easily in her bathroom.

Mine was around $40 - got it on sale, but maybe you could find a better deal, closer to $25 if you started looking earlier/shopped around.

I know it may be a bit above your budget, just recommending because it's not something that most people would really think of, and my mother LOVES hers.

    gift certificates for fav restaurant
    11% gross to retirement
10% takehome to tithe and offerings
emergency fund maintained at 3000(works for me)
    credit card debt 7500
    mortgage free
freedom accounts/sinking funds that ebb and flow
    then live on the rest!

i am trying something new. LDS church advises savings or debt repayment should be the same as the tithe. 10% each.

Gift certificate to her favorite restaurant.

If she is still taking care of the daughter maybe an IOU for giving her time off for herself.

    Talking My Mother-in-law

Just to let you know my Mother-in-Law and Father-in-Law have had an empty nest over the last five years. They helped my sweet Sister-in-law, find a place of her own in a condo she can call home. She lives with a caregiver and a roommate that has a disibility as well, but they are the best of friends.

Wow, there are some absolutely amazing ideas.

I second the g/c to have hair done at regular place - did this for my MIL a couple years, she loves it. Hair done guilt-free!

Does she drive, have a vehicle? Car wash tokens or g/c to favorite place that also details the insides. Again, got it for my MIL and she really appreciated having all the details done!

We do the calendars every year for our parents and they love them. I always get them done at Shoppers Drug Mart, you order online and pick up in store so there is no shipping; they usually have a 40% off sale in late November, and I typically try to arrange to pick them up on a bonus optimum points day.

I also make homemade bath salts for my MIL, which she adores. That depends on the person, though, my own mother would hate them.
