Red face I went nuts at the store today ( this week really)

So I had awesome stock up on basics sale (loaded up there)
Next day the awesome meat sale (filled the freezer)

There were so many menu making options with those full again.

Then the store was brimming with items too.

Very very full shelves. I was strange. I mean so much food everywhere.

    I went nuts

    I bought
    syrup
    ranch dressing
    heavy cream
box of goldfish crackers (whales really - mother daughter campout out treat)
fruit snacks (mother daughter camp out treat)
    2 pounds bacon
    4 pounds of cheese
    100% whole wheat loaf
    bag of tater tots
    bag of french fries
    pound of butter
gallon apple cider ( seasonal treat)
6 caramel apples ( seasonal treat)
    3 pound gala apples
    10 pounds potatoes
    head of lettuce
    4 tomatoes
2 pounds lunch meat (ham and salami)
frozen chicken patties (little miss's request item homemade mc chicken sandwiches)
    2 dozen eggs
    a package of hamburger buns
    3 bottles of soda

Today I spent 77.55 pre tax.

And gas was the cheapest I have seen it in over 6 months. $3.27 My tank was low so I got a lot of the good price gas in the tank.

Shopping this week was strange and odd to say the least.
Low prices, over full shelves, low priced gas
    I wonder why?

I love living vicariously through your shopping trips. On a happy note, gas was $2.92 at the discount gas station here. I was empty and filled up. Off to the store at 4 for weekly shopping trip. While my store isn't having even close to the sales yours did, they do have flour and sugar on sale for .99/1.79 and McCormicks spices are 50% off, including real vanilla. Thanks for the inspiration to save money at the store.

I found lower grocery prices this week as well. Especially good prices on roasts of beef and pork, chicken thighs and a corned beef. Lots of good crock pot meals for chilly days coming. Hannah

Reminds me of the first time I took my friend from Russia grocery shopping. She couldn't get over the variety and quantity of food on the shelves. Kept saying"too many, too many". This was 10+ years ago. Now she shops like a pro!

I do not know why your gas prices are so low. Ours are still pretty high, but coming down. My speculation about the food prices is that both Super WalMarts and Target have had terrible quarterly sales and have had to reduce staff hours and even lay off staff, so I am thinking that since October is the last month of the quarter that not only WalMart and Target, but other stores as well are following suit and lowering prices in hopes of ending the quarter with a stronger profit.

Great deals. Take advantage of them while you can. I was able to stay within grocery budget this week as well. The first week in a long while which is why I do not post on the grocery budget post, but read it all the time with envy and happiness for those who do not go over budget. I am not buying trash foods either, it is just that prices have risen so.

those don't happen often, but i love those days... come home with freezer/cabinets filled with food for the upcoming weeks/months.
There's always a tinge of guilt with me for spending so much... but it goes away mid-winter when I've got my choice of whatever to eat while the prices of those foods are sky-high!
    You did great!!!
