Talking What are you serving for Thanksgiving dinner?

This weekend is Thanksgiving here in Canada. DH & I are invited to share Thanksgiving dinner with friends. This made me wonder what others serve for this 'meal of thanks'. For example, do they do traditional or go all out and cook something odd like souffle instead?

Friends are serving: turkey, gravy, roasted garlic mashed taters, roasted broccoli and pumpkin pie. (four people)

Our family is serving: turkey, dressing, mashed taters, grilled cobbed corn, roasted brussels sprouts, roasted onion & carrots, carrot turnip mash, gravy, gluten free macaroons, rice krispy squares, apple cake & ice cream. (eight people)

What do y'all plan on serving this year for Thanksgiving?

We normally make a feast out of this meal and end up serving:
    -turkey
    -stuffing
    -homemade cranberries
    -gravy
    -ham
-german style cabbage rolls (the ukranian style cabbage rolls are alright, but we like our cabbage rolls big and filled with ground beef with rice as an accent...the ukranian style cabbage rolls are filled primarily with rice and contain no meat or flecks of ground pork and they are soooo tiny!)
    -garlic mashed potatoes
-cucumber salad (thinly sliced cucumber, sour cream, 1-2 tbsp sugar, mix well. then sprinkle with a dash of salt and pepper on top)
-coleslaw (sliced cabbage w/miracle whip, with diced apple, raisins, choped walnuts or shelled sunflower seeds)
    -garden salad
-baked acorn squash (baked with butter and honey with a dash of cinnamon) and/or roasted zucchini (one giant zucchini, halfed lengthwise, basted with olive oil, sprinkled with parmesean cheese, italian herbs and garlic)
    -roasted corn on the cob
-candied yams (yams, brown sugar and sliced pineapple)
-oven baked bannock or dinner buns
-pumpkin pie with homemade whipped cream with a hint of maple extract or apple crisp with ice cream or whatever i can whip up

This year will be different though. I work all weekend, 12 hr shifts, so I'm not home to start prepping....Prolly end up eating our meal on monday instead of sunday (i always had the dinner the day before and while the following day i recovered from the cooking, baking and cleaning madness lol).

How about traditions? Does anyone here have any thanksgiving trads they'd like to share, aside from cooking up a special meal? In our family, we always set a plate of food aside for friends/family members who passed away within the last year. Then we would talk about all the things we were thankful for in our lives, no matter how small or trivial it may seem. This time of year, we also donate food/supplies to local foodbank/soup kitchens/charities/shelters, our way of sharing what we can with others. Having both native and european ancestry, this holiday is more than just a stat holiday for our family and it reflects many of our traditional teachings - happily giving and sharing, helping others in need

So to my fellow canucks, I wish you all a most wonderful and blessed thanksgiving weekend.

We do traditional...turkey, dressing, rice, gravy, homemade cranberry sauce, veggies (we vary them from year-to-year), pumpkin pie with whipped topping, usually another type of pie, and a cake...waaaaaay too much food!

You are all making me hungry. It's just DH and I here. We had a potluck Thanksgiving dinner on Thursday for some international students and people from church. There was all kinds of food I have no idea what it was...let's see...

    chicken (the Saudis brought it)
    latkes (the Isrealis brought them)
kimbab (Korean sushi...the Koreans brought that!)
Bacon wrapped scallops (the Chinese brought them)
Shrimp in a lovely sauce (the Chinese also brought them and laughed at me trying to eat them!)
    Turkey
    Turkey stuffing
    Mashed Potatoes
    Squash casserole
    Vegetables
Pickles and Relishes (apple chutney, bread and butter pickles, cranberry jelly, dilled carrots and beans) - all homemade.
    Pumpkin pie and whipped cream
    Potato chips of various kinds
A nuts and bolts mix of some kind
Korean sweet snacks - a couple different kinds

Sigh...I haven't eaten much since. I am just too full!

Tomorrow we go out for a Thanksgiving dinner. I'm not too worried about what will be served. The lady is a fabulous cook! I offered to bring a pie, but she's having pumpkin pie and cheesecake for dessert! Guess I better take my Lactaid before I go! We'll take some pop and sparkling juice.

When people ask, "What are you serving for Thanksgiving?" I think of that Everybody Loves Raymond episode where Debra wants to cook fish but Ray is watching football while loading the dishwasher and puts the platter, fish and all, right in!

I have no idea. My sister and I will probably be eating sliders at M&T Bank Stadium cause the Ravens play the 49ers!!

I always cook a full Thanksgiving dinner for the four of us and our neighbor Dave. We have claimed Thanksgiving as our family holiday versus worrying about splitting it between our three sets of parents and two sets of grandparents.

    We always have:
    ham
    Rolls
    A form of potatoes
    Pasta salad
    A veggie
    Cranberry relish
    Sweet taties
    Watergate salad
    Dessert.
