There's one here in Richmond, Va but I haven't been. ( I don't travel around town much at 70years old with vision problems ) and I haven't heard how they are.

Card carrying member of Ollie's Army here! We have one about 45 minutes away. Some stuff is a good deal, some isnt, like any other discount store. Similar to a Big Lots/Odd Lots with more name brand stuff. They stock everything from books to tools to oriental rugs to food to cleaning supplies to towels/bedlinens to clothing. Some of it is 'afterstock' from stores like walmart. When they discontinue a line or a pattern, companies like Ollie's bid it for their own stock and sell it much cheaper.

I find Ollies to be hit or miss. I have found great prices on some brand name cookware (Paula Dean or Rachel Ray) and we've stumbled onto some awesome games of good quality. I make time to walk through every few months to see if they have anything new to offer.

We have one and it is also hit or miss here. It does remind me of Big Lots, but the merchandise changes fairly often. Good store to walk through every once in awhile, because you can run across awesome deals, but not a store I routinely go to. Too far out of my way, and so hit or miss that it doesn't make the trip worth it to me.

there is one about 10 min away that I go to when I am bored. I find some things now and then but I have to watch it, especially the expiration dates. Also, sometimes the things arn't really that good of a deal, but other times its unbeatable.
I never find laundry detergent there at a deal, that I can't beat in spades with coupons and sales at the grocery and drug stores.
I do recommend you check it out though and see what you see.
Also, not sure how yours will be but don't pay any attention to the sale papers, they almost never have at the store what is in the paper. I won't say its bait and switch as they will have other similiar items with similiar prices, just I guess a varied selection and they can't put pics of everything in the flier.total debt: $23977.09 updated 04/02/11

Yep, Like Ceashels and Joseph said.
We have one about a 1/2 hour from me. You've to know your prices elsewhere, including sale prices. But you should be able to find some good deals if you go often enough. The idea being that you have to be willing to walk out with nothing on some trips.

Hmmm...I know I've seen one somewhere nearby but never stopped in. Maybe I'll give it a look sometime - I have a pretty extensive price list stored in my brain, so I might be able to find some good deals.

~I wasn't too impressed with the prices of most stuff. The patio furniture was as steal though.
Mine is an hour away and I'm only up that way once a year. I probably won't stop again. On my last visit I bought a sealed package of fun print band-aids and when I got home there were only three in the box. The store was dirty too, and they'd just opened.
So not really impressed. ~~Constance

We have one about 45 minutes away in either direction. Sometimes they have nothing much other times it's great. I picked up Canon deep pocket sheets for 14.99 set. The cheapest I could find them anywhere else was 60 bucks. Lots of computer games and books everywhere.

I've found some great books for my son there...and a few for me, lol. I also found an excellent oriental rug for my living. Other than that, I haven't had much luck. To me, the selection isn't great at the one near me, and most things are comparable, if not more, than other retail stores.

I just stopped in one about a month ago or so, I really liked it, there were great deals on games and books, toys yes, but like anything you have to watch, some things are a steal, some things not so much. Similar to when you shop at say BJ's and Costco. I enjoyed wandering around, it was my first day out in 8 years without a child with me, so i enjoyed it, lol. I agree it's a lot like Big Lots, but I think it is set up better and has nicer products (for the most part), our local Big Lots, is dingy and everything looks old or broken. I haven't been back there since it opened several years ago.
