OMG! Dairy-free mint hot chocolate
With the colder weather I have been wanting hot chocolate but have avoided making it since I am currently not eating dairy. Finally I decided to look up a hot chocolate recipe without dairy. Came across Hershey's website. They even state in the recipe I can use water or milk substitue for milk. So I ended up using rice milk. I added some instant coffee and a few drops of mint extract. Definately have my fix now.

Linky linky! Fine, I can find it myself. ha! I have almond milk at home that I mix with hot chocolate powder, its really good. But the powder likely has milk solids.
I haven't weaned off dairy yet, I've switched to mostly vegetarian, but I am still fighting against giving up eggs and cheese. I rarely drink milk as I'm totally on Almond milk even for cooking.LDR

Hot Cocoa with Almond Milk - Martha Stewart Recipes
This recipe from Martha Stewart is pretty good. My son drinks Almond Milk due to sensitivity to milk and we like this recipe. Hope you enjoy it.

If you scroll down they give you ideas for flavors. I remember as a child getting hot chocolate without milk and wondering why there wasn't any milk.

I haven't clicked the link but if its cocoa powder being used of course its dairy free. If you're using a hot choc powder mix - it has dairy in it.
I've made my own hot choc mix out of necessity b/c of the sugar content. I did use milk though along with cocoa powder, cinnamon and splenda. The price difference for a can of 'light' (ie sugar free) mix is significantly higher then reg hot choc mix.2012: The Year Of The Purge!
