Default I'm putting the kid in a bubble!

I am going to put my 15 year old in a bubble! He has now broken 3 bones since July! I had him in again this morning since he had an accident playing ball last night. He broke his finger ( very obvious from the 90degrr angle it was sticking out at!) He now needs to go to a specialist to evaluate what is going on further up his hand. Poor kid! Gee I am getting sick of seeing the pediatric orthopedist. I bet he isn't getting sick of us. We have heavily padded the clinics coffers.

So how will I get him on the bus in his bubble? LOL I bet he would jump off of something higher than the normal crazy 10 feet if he really could have a bubble. BOYS!!!!!

Duct tape him covered in bubble wrap?

I had girls, they weren't very graceful but we only had one broken bone thankfully.

My oldest broke her first bone at about 27 months falling off a chair when she was trying to climb down off it. She hasn't since then but the way ALL my kids play, it won't be long.

I love that idea! My other son is 18 and has never broken one so far.

Some people are just accident prone. I'm 30 and I've never broken a bone, and I'm not intentionally careful at all. I might be a bit of a coward though. At least your son is living life to the fullest!!

LOL that is a good way to look at it! I've personally only broken a few toes while pregnant and am very accident prone/clumsy.

Ironically ds drinks 1/2 gallon + of milk daily and eats lots of cheese~ so he should have strong bones. I was concerned something was wrong with his bones but the Dr stated " I just dont think we are made to fall 10 + ft straight down , run into things going full throttle etc and that his bones were fine."

When girls decide to be daredevils & get hurt, they cry about it & they don't attempt the feat again.
Boys....when they decide to be daredevils and get hurt, they might cry a little - then they say "Wow! that was great - I'm gonna do it again!"
But that's just the difference between my kids
I hope that your ds heals quickly & gives you some rest.

When my daughter broke her arm (27 months), the doctor showed us that it was a green stick fracture - a tiny break and mostly a bend in a still-pliable bone. He told us that if she had been 7 or 8 years old, it would have snapped. So your son is at the age where the bones are not as pliable anymore even if they are strong from all the calcium. That's one reason why babies and small children can "bounce" a lot easier but the same fall a little older will break something.

Although, the doctor was a little surprised when we came in to the Instacare with her arm braced with a wooden dowel and wrapped up in a magazine or newspaper to hold it still. I guess he'd never known anyone who knew how to immobilize a possible break.

I was lucky enough to escape breaking bones until I was 30. Then I had a triple break in my ankle that required surgery, pins and a plate. The older we get, the worse they tend to be.

I am going to suggest: little bubble bubble wrap on the inside, a wrapping of large bubble bubble wrap as the next layer, and then duct tape to hold it on. This is what we have threatened to do to our guys.

Kinda reminds me of a movie...think it was called "Little Giants"...where one mom had wrapped her son with huge pieces of foam & duct tape so he wouldn't get hurt playing football.lol.

Now this is going to sound odd but I have 4 boys and there has not been a broken bone yet..oldest is 33 and youngest is 17...but the oldest had a habit of cutting himself with a knife I don't care what he was doing he could cut himself, cleaning fish, opening a box at work, looking at a knife (ok that might be extreme) but you get the picture. Second oldest decided to get a BB out of a BB gun by turning it upside and and pulling the triger, shot himself in the hand and to take him to a nerosergon (not spelled right) because the hand has so many nerves. Two youngest nothing yet. oh yea the oldest also decided to jump off a table when I was playing volleyball...he missed...hit his chin on the table and needed stitches ..

Tape him to the top of the bus, then when he gets to school the can cut the tape off. Hahahahahahaha.
