Everywhere we went they wanted to give us somthing free

We had three places to go to today for the things on our shopping list.

The local lumber/home improvement store, walmart, and the local farm and ranch store.

The local lumber/home improvement store gave us a free smoke detector

The local farm and home store passed out free bags of popcorn ( the kids each took one)

and Walmart handed us a free can of coke each on the way out the door.

Cool! Can't beat free....especially when you don't even have to ask! Especially the smoke detector.

My guess was the free smoke alarm was because our town recently had a house fire where both people in the house died.

So I guess that is why. We did need one for the upstairs so it was good.

Yep, the best one was the smoke detector. Hands down! So glad you got one for upstairs.

In the old apartment we lived at the landlord had a smoke detector that had a cord. I never saw a smoke detector with a cord before.

We had a corded one growing up. No changing batteries as it was wired to the electricity.

You know, come to think about it we never had smoke detectors growing up. Huh? I've got to wonder if my Mom even has them in her apartment now? I think I better check on that. I'm glad you posted about this Imagine.

The local fire department here is also reminding people to have their furnaces Checked ( we have it done yearly end of august beginning of sept when the weather gets a nip in the air but before it will need to be used) They are also reminders about portable heater safety.

Yes! Very important! We had ours done a few weeks back. We have oil radiators, they are the only space heaters I feel comfortable with. My DH want to get a kerosene heater in case of emergency, like we lose our electric in a snow storm. Which is highly likely, it's happened before. I know it's a good idea, but they make me nervous.
