Silly dh question
As some folks know, our daughter spent a few months in London last year and was almost literally sick with homesickness, so dh and I were in London more in those months than we have ever been and therefore I got to know my way around London and Greenwich even better than I did before.
I now know where the best stores are with the best prices etc.
This coming Thursday, Friday and Saturday dh and I will be in London and Greenwich. He has to be there for business and I am lucky enough to be able to go along.
OK here it is - the silly question.
"You do know that after we arrive at the hotel I will have to leave you for the entire day and will probably not see you again till late evening".
ARE YOU SURE THAT YOU WON'T GET BORED?
EH, NO!!!!!!
No I don't mind taking my time and strolling around where I want to go, taking as much time as I like looking at stuff, going into the stores that I want, having a very long good look at the Christmas stuff (WAAAAYYYY better than in Holland and MUCH cheaper) and deciding how much I need without anyone reminding me that it all has to be carried in our suitcase.
In the evening - literally across the road from our hotel is one of my favorite restaurants and I may end up there with something nice to eat (but not expensive) and a glass or two of nice wine and then stroll across to the hotel. Or I may buy something at the supermarket together with some wine and just watch British TV in my hotel room.
No dear hubby, it will NOT be a problem - don't worry about me - I WILL HAVE A BALL.
Men are so silly sometimes.*Avril*

Oh dear,Can you function w/o me seeing your female and all.lol?
Years ago before kids and pets I went to San fransisco w/ DH for a convention/classes. I drove to Monterey bay aquarium, saw a seaside park and sea lion rescue, had lunch at a sezuan restaurant, cruised a seaside mall built into the cliffs went to china town, photographed hang gliders, drove the coastal roads by the oceans.
Some one from class had to drive him back to the hotel. He kept telling me how awful it was there. Everyone was so lax and laid back. how the traffic was awful. Hmm,um yes dear.lol Did we go to the same place. DH who??

Oh what a wonderful trip you'll have.
I get to go along with Greebo occasionally and I've explored the museums and places he wouldn't enjoy so much.

I did this last year when DH went to Las Vegas for a work conference. I had to fly in by myself, check in the hotel by myself, and keep myself entertained for 2 days while he was doing conference stuff. Hello, it's Las Vegas! I can find something to do!
I loved the Shark Reef Aquarium, got to spend tons of time window shopping, and check out the hotel spa. It was great!Loving wife to DH (8/31/03) and Mommy to Owen Alexander (9/20/06)

London is so full of museums and interesting sights I don't know how anyone could be bored there. When we travel anywhere, even if one of us has to work, we always make it a point to see _something_ of interest while we're there.

Don't worry about fitting items in the luggage. If your have some extra things they can be dhl'd back home from the hotel when you leave.

My mom would be horrified at the thought of you being "alone" in a "strange place" and what WOULD you do with yourself?! You would go to a place "alone"?!!! HOW DANGEROUS!!
No joke, it is unheard of to her that you would go along and *gasp* check out a MUSEUM?? alone???!!!!
You are just "asking" to be killed. No really, these are things she has said to me when I have done things on my own.
HUGS AND I AM SO HAPPY FOR YOU!! I love journeys. My mom is mortified in general that women do things alone so I don't tell her most of the stuff I do in my life.
Silly hubbys and other people who think we can't entertain ourselves.

Do you drive in London? If not, I can see a bit of his perspective.
That said, I just had 3 lovely days in Albuquerque while DH was in a conference.
Since I'm a nervous driver, I didn't go out much, but I had my knitting and my snacks and cable TV -- with the remote all to myself!2012 Knitting in progress

Now for me it would be tough because I have no sense of direction. I could get some place but would have no clue how to get back to the hotel and then would freak out but I am just a very small town girl. I guess my sense of adventure went by itself and forgot to take me along.

I used to be like you Dutchie. But now I'm easily confused and would become lost in no time flat. DH just plain wouldn't let me wander a new place as big as London on my own! I'm not sure I wouldn't agree with him on that one...at least until I got my bearings. Still, I've been in London before. There's lots to see and do.
Just sitting on a park bench enjoying the different scenery would suit me fine! As long as I had some handwork with me.
I once had a chance to go to Phoenix, AZ on a conference with DH, and I decided to stay home. He told me later the area around the hotel where the conference was was not safe to wander around alone even during daylight. He said the conference people moved around in packs and escorted the women places just for safety.2012 Challenges

DH is the same way - he'd love for me to accompany him on a business trip (we have yet to have this opportunity) however he'd be worried sick about me being about there alone.
I'm one to find my own entertainment. I could probably spend 6 hours just 'browsing' inside a mall somewhere if given the chance. I'd love to do the museums/aquariums etc.2012: The Year Of The Purge!
