Clip from ellen tv show - Sophia Grace & Rosie Tear It Up
I don't usually watch this show but my sister sent me this link to something that was on today - these two lil girls get their ROCK ON during a commercial break apparently.
I don't think they know just how cute they are - I'm glad they're letting their spirit shine through

~I find that disturbing and sad. I don't see a little girls being themselves. I see an obnoxious adoration of a sleazy and exploitative profession. All her little moves weren't cute to me, they were creepy. How many times did her parents let her watch the videos to imitate that? Do they even know the sexual content of what she's singing? She even swore in there you know. Yuck.~

I can see your point but its not like these lil girls are able to choose what they watch and listen to on the radio. Their parents are the ones influencing them & exposing them to poor content. (I think we see them in the audience crying b/c their girls are getting to meet a super star.) I see it as two lil girls who really like a song/artist and are just mimicking them. If it was a more age/content appropriate type situation, it could be seen as cute.
Here's a better clip I found on youtube that kind of fills in the back story. The girls get to meet Nicki Minaj and turns out the brunette is a super huge fan.

~Yeah, I saw that clip too. I agree, it's the parent's passion that usually that bubbles out of what seems to be a kid's obsession. I didn't mean to be a downer.

I was raised not listening to popular music so my opinions about it are different than most people's. I don't see it as harmless for children just because they don't understand the lyrics or the meaning behind suggestive dance moves. At such an impressionable age why not impress them with more valuable things than imitating bad music and bad dancing and bad style?
This is the kind of children's antics I find adorable: 7 year old Yash improv "An Autumn Afternoon in Central Park" - YouTube ~~Constance
