Thanks Russ! This is an awesome story. I have never thought about it like that before. Sorry to hear about your fil. Hope he can still can enjoy what he loves. Sounds like he is doing just that.

So sorry his day got screwed up. While the email was enjoyable ... and right... I'd still want to reach out and touch someone.
There's days I truly don't like people.Bank of America is THE godfather of Hell with Wells Fargo running neck and neck. When the world ends the only things that will be left are cockroaches, Walmart, Wells Fargo and Bank of America. Not necessarily in that order. The order remains to be seen.

I am sorry this happened to your FIL.. Like the bumper sticker goes "Mean people SUCK!"....
I am like the guy in the story. I rarely if ever let someone else's mood or behavior bother me. Now that I am in the management program at ROSS, my store manager said that is what she likes about me---I let it roll off my shoulders. What would it do to get all emotional and upset when it is the customer or other person that has the attitude. I know I did nothing to cause their problems, and if I did I just smile and kill them with kindness. Great story by the way.Bonnie mom to

2012 Goals
Use the vegetables from my garden and learn to preserve.
Cut down on all unnecessary things.
Free is best.
Get the garage completely cleaned out. Half done-Until BIL and SIL stored their stuff--now back to square 1.
Make the yards nice-weed, mow, plant, flowerbeds,etc.
Stay home more/eat out less if at all.
FIND A NEW JOB!!!

6. make new friends. (*this is hard for me...I have a hard time)

well Russ when the story first began I thought someone shot him or something bad really bad happened.
I put this one under annoying crap happens.
I love the garbage truck analogy. I know as a young person I worked for the dept of sanitation a few times myself. Good reminder.
Glad DFil can take it in stride. It can be disheartening. I am still picking Halloween toilet paper out of the trees and lawn.

I'm glad your FIL isn't letting the ugliness get to him. I've had a "garbage" month and have been letting it wear me down. I think I'll make a copy of your email and hang it up at work as a reminder. Thanks for the positive message- I needed it!
