Over the years, I've followed this family off and on...

Walk Slowly, Live Wildly — Think. Dream. Dance. Love. Worship. Be.

They have done RV living in the past, and it made for a fascinating read. I'd like to try it someday, but my husband is a long way from being on board with that plan.

That would be me too, DC!! Only it would be to use up (or sell) my FABRIC STASH!!! (and it weighs a lot more!)

I think I could do it...........and have thought about it... but don't think I would cope too well if PUSHED into it.......like a 'have to' situation.
And I would want the 'vehicle' to move it.........wouldn't want to try it 'permanent' in any place that got cold in the winter.
Travel light. The baggage of the past can only hold you back.

I know there are a lot of people who do the work campers. I don't know to much about it other than they go to the campgrounds work there for their lot space, lights and a small paycheck at times. My DH and I would sell in a minute and move if we could afford health insurance. We are so sick of the LONG COLD winters here in Northern NY. We love to travel and see the sights.

If I didn't have kids I would gladly live in an RV. I would prefer to live out in the woods in a cave though. Honestly. I seriously would. I love nature and I really miss being a kid spending time just wandering around in the woods and exploring. I was always happiest camping and being outdoors. RV's are just usually too close to other people. I like my privacy.

Not with kids, I couldn't stand not being able to escape the noise, but I would enjoy it as a retired couple. Although, I think an RV is too big, and really limits where you can go. I'd rather have an SUV and a tent.

A lady I quilt with lived in an RV for quite a few years and had her sewing machine and fabrics well hidden. She and her DH travelled all over.

We own a 35ft camper in which my husband lives Monday - Friday for work. It's a little cramped when we all go out to stay with him. We're a family of 9, so that's to be expected. He has plenty of room for himself.

He's been living in it for 2 years. So far the worst drawbacks are that the pipes will freeze more easily than ones in a house, there's no room for a washer and drier, and the refrigerator is small. It also gets really hot in the summer and can take a while to cool down if the a/c has not been on for a while, such as over the weekend.

We bought a used handicapped accessible model, which is nice because there is no carpet in it. RV carpet can get really icky, imo.

My Sil thought that they could do that when her dh was out of work. They own a nice trailer type rv & thought if they lost their house they could live on our property or camp and live in diff places. I think it's a great idea! Wish we had an rv dh designs them!

We lived in the woods that 15 years. We have camped from Mississippi to Maine and Minnesota. We spent 9 summers in the north Maine woods. That was my favorite part of it. I'm a birder and I got to spend a lot of time birding new territory The kids basically grew up in the woods without tv, etc. We homeschooled. They look back on the experience with fondness. Lots of great memories.
