    Default I shouldn't have looked

It's Cyber Monday. I hate brick and mortar shopping and wouldn't be caught dead at a store on Black Friday, but online shopping is another story. I haven't been enthused about anything I've seen advertised this year, but dropped by Amazon today anyway.

    And there it was.

    [ame="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005Z2L3L8/ref=oh_o00_s00_i00_details"]Amazon.com: KitchenAid KP26M1PSL Professional 600 Series 6-Quart Stand Mixer, Silver: Kitchen & Dining@@AMEPARAM@@http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/412OkBcyTpL.@@AMEPARAM@@412OkBcyTpL[/ame]

I've wanted one for years now, and even almost bought one at Sears a few years ago. But there was a dispute over a warranty issue with another small appliance that day, and I was so steamed I decided not to buy it. The sale price that day was $300, and the mixer in question was a couple steps below this one.

So today I jumped, after some research. It seems like the street price on this model is about $400, so that's a respectable sale, plus there is a $50 rebate.

Both my husband and I bake, so this will be a nice Christmas gift for both of us. We don't go overboard buying gifts, so this seems like a great purchase. I hope we like it, and it lasts us for many years.

Good to know, Brenda. Some of the reviews aren't that great but the overwhelming majority are, so it seems like a good purchase at this point. Guess I'll be clearing off a spot on the counter for this monster! And making a nice cover for it.

I was just reading the rebate form. In addition to the $50 rebate, there is a free magazine subscription included. In the fine print it says if we don't want the magazine, we can get an additional $24 refunded. I'm not holding my breath on that one, but we'll give it a try. I'd rather have the $24 than the magazine. That would bring the cost of this mixer down to less than $200! Totally amazing.

YIKES! They're sold out already! I hope I don't get a notice that they can't send me one. I'd be disappointed.

    Spirit Deer,
Your link to that specific model shows unavailable but I clicked on one in the "Customers who viewed this item also viewed" lineup and saw this:

Yes, I know it's still available in another color, but I don't know if I won't be able to get the one I have a confirmed order for. So I can't order the cinnamon-colored one.

I would hope they wouldn't have accepted my order and confirmed it if they were sold out when I ordered.

I have never been let down by Amazon.com ever....Please go to the KitchenAid online site as they might be running some kind of promotion..When I purchased mine I went all the way to the bottom of the Amazon page where the mixer's are and there was a forum that asked question's and they mentioned a promo that was going on at that time you could get a free Kitchenaid Ice cream attachment (a $80.00 value back then)for free by sending in a copy of your reciept! What a deal!

P.S. Just a word of advice from my experience(have bought 3 KitchenAid mixer's over the past 10yrs) BEWARE if you intend on using this machine alot for kneading bread dough be prepare for it to not last very long..even though they are supposed heavy duty muscle machine it can't handle to much on the kneading part..I don't EVER PUSH my mixer when I hear a weird sound that usually mean's it will BREAK only when kneading dough though..It is AWESOME for mixing all other ingredients..I use my bread machine for my bread making! HTH..

    ~Wow, that's an awesome deal!
I have the 6 quart monster machine in Empire Red. I've used it 5X a week or more for 11 years now. I knead all my doughs in it without issue.
Definitely check for a promotion in addition to the rebate. The promotion at the time I got mine was an extra bowl with engraving for free just for sending a copy of the receipt and the UPC. ~

I might use the mixer for bread occasionally, but I use my bread machine for buns and rarely bake bread. I try not to bake much bread because it's a trigger food for me, meaning I tend not to stop eating it (with butter and honey) once I start eating fresh homemade bread. But I'll probably use it for stuff like pizza dough because I do want to start having some pizza crusts made up and ready to go in the freezer.

Looks like the only promos right now are the $50 rebate and magazine subscription listed on Amazon. I did check KA's site. Thanks for the tip!

I looked at accessories when I bought the mixer and saw the ice cream maker. We have one already that looks like the same concept, only it's a stand-alone appliance. We love it! It makes really good ice cream.

Amazon's price without the rebate is still $10 less than the same model refurbished on KA's site. Yea!

I haven't gotten a notice from Amazon saying they don't have what I ordered, so I'll keep my fingers crossed. I don't know how close my order was to the sell-out, but it was within an hour. Maybe it'll come down to how accurately their software tracks their inventory.

I think the model's were made better 11yrs ago then the newer ones..jmho..Do you think all my dead mixer's were lemon's? The one pictured here is the only 6qt that I have bought in this size and I have heard it make a funny noise (when kneading the dough) that is way to familiar from the past model's that burnt out on me...............

I was reading there was an issue with the gears a few years ago, and that has since been corrected. I sure hope I don't have any problems. I buy a lot of vintage stuff for that exact reason, the new stuff ain't what it used to be. But I haven't come across a vintage mixer I like that I can afford, so decided to go for this one.

I got a refurbished Professional HD KA for $100 this fall and am loving it. I made some rice flax bread with it not long ago. They are very specific in their manual about what you can and cannot do with the mixer when using the dough hook. They don't want you to go over speed 2 or 3...very slow. Read the instruction manual carefully and follow the instructions and you should be okay. I have been so far.

Hope you get the mixer and enjoy many years of use from it.

It's supposed to arrive sometime between 12/5-10, MM, so it'll be a while. I'll let you know!

They still haven't canceled the order, so I'm cautiously optimistic that they won't. The other color they offered sold out now too. No surprise at that price. I still can't believe it. I've never seen such a good sale.

Peanut, I thought of you when I was ordering my mixer this morning. You got a great deal! Thanks for the tip about the manual.
