Sounds very frustrating. Does you husband have a cell phone he can record video on? Maybe your husband and daughter could leave each other video messages for each other each day. Realize it is not the same as being there in person but would be something special they could do.
Hope your husband can relax soon.

I can let her text back and forth, He can answer when he has free time (whenever that is).
She's 11, so she is old enough to understand why he isn't around much, but really enjoys the time they do get to spend together.
He already said he's taking Dec 6th off... it's the last time she will be in a Christmas play (homeschooling starting next year). He said there is no way he will miss it, even if he has to take his "dinner" during it and take the van with him.
I can't be out of money... I still have checks left!

Childhood is fleeting, no doubt about that. When DD was a toddler I was told that we had to work 10 hours a day and 1/2 day on Saturday. Mandatory. We made slot machine for goodness sake. Hire more people. I applied for a different job and when they called I was gone in a flash. Of course that was almost 30 years ago and a different economy. I was fortunate that the daycare provider was ok with it.
Good luck and vent here when you need.

update
He walked in to the managers office today on a mission... walked out with next Tuesday off!
He is going to make it to Diva's final Christmas performance!
He was pretty much told that's the only remaining vacation day he can have -- I would have really liked to have him home after the holidays, but, not going to sit and mope... he is going to be there for Diva -- and that's all that really matters!

My work is moving in that direction, for an unspecified amount of time. My wife and I are going to be trying to have a baby next year, but I don't see how we're going to pull it off if I only see her one night a week.
It doesn't help much, but you definitely aren't alone. Companies need to understand that their employees value their family time. I really like my job, and am the type that would be happy being here until I retire, but if I don't get to see my family, I will leave.
