    Angry Hit and Run!!!!

I was just waking up this morning when OldMan called. Someone hit his car and took off! He was following the woman trying to get her plate. She eventually stopped but refuses to get out of her car or give her information.

The police are on their way. He can't open his door. I think he is in shock. There is one payment left on the car.

He was driving down the road and the woman was on a side street to his left. She came darting out of the street and he slammed his breaks but she clipped him pretty good (or bad).
I can't be out of money... I still have checks left!

Un-flippin-real! The girl is underage. She had her music blaring and DIDN'T EVEN KNOW there was an accident!

She didn't know that she took out the entire drivers panel! (He has a Yaris).

The kick in the teeth is the cop is siding with him BUT, because the damage is his front/her back... HE is at fault! They also told him next time just to get the plate number.

-- The punch to the throat is... his company works on points, and accidents take them away... he could end up losing his job because of some totally clueless teenager.

I'm so glad he isn't hurt. I would ask your insurance agency to fight the issue for him since it could potentially mean a job loss.

how could you NOT know you hit somebody?
    11% gross to retirement
10% takehome to tithe and offerings
emergency fund maintained at 3000(works for me)
    credit card debt 7500
    mortgage free
freedom accounts/sinking funds that ebb and flow
    then live on the rest!

i am trying something new. LDS church advises savings or debt repayment should be the same as the tithe. 10% each.

He is in a Yaris, she is in a tank! Well, an Expedition.

The father showed up, apologized to OldMan, but said he will let the insurance companies battle it out. He use to work at an auto-body shop so he knows the damages rule... he also said that black is near impossible to match.

    UGH!

I have to leave soon for a parent-teachers meeting, but on the way back, I will be stopping at the insurance company to find out what we are suppose to do. The police gave them the exchange info, but it doesn't have the street name she was coming off of since he doesn't know the names of the side roads, and she doesn't even know WHERE the accident was, she doesn't know what street she was coming off of.

So sorry this happened, but at least old man is OK. Don't let the insurance companies get away with calling it his fault - there can be exceptions. Fight for it!
If you could kick in the pants the person responsible for your problems, you wouldn't be able to sit for a month.

Did you know that a 4 year student paying $20,000/year who finances their education graduates with over $103,000 in debt to start? But a student who works and pays cash and takes 6 years to graduate ends with $6,300 in their pocket! So much for "getting a head start by financing!"

Wow! Amazing you cannot know you hit someone. Really?! I'd have that teenager strung out big time. I would take it to the insurance company. Sounds like the cop didn't do his job that well either. Usually they can tell by skid marks etc. exactly what happened. If your DH knew the intersection it happened at, they could go back and check. Like OP have said, glad your DH isn't hurt. Hope he doesn't lose his job over this.

LadyV, call your insurance company and have them investigate the accident. They can overturn the "fault" rule and if they find her at fault, then her insurance company will pay.

Don't let it sit, especially if it is her fault.

So glad your dh is okay...I hate to say this but you were mentioning how upset you were about your dh working long hours not being home to spend time with the family and so on..you mention his job goes by the point system and could lose his job over it? maybe this is a sign that better opportunities await your family in the near future? In other words a different job that better suit's your family. (HUGS)
