Can't disagree with that.... I guess the way I see this is that irresponsible purchases are irresponsible purchases whether they're paid for in cash or on credit. That's my opinion, the end. If you can't handle the responsibility of having a credit card then I don't like your odds of keeping your grubby mitts off of that "emergency fund".
Whether you pay for an emergency with an emergency fund or with a credit card probably doesn't matter that much. Presumably you would replenish your emergency fund after paying for the emergency, which is about the same as paying off the credit card, interest payments excepted.
