What if you add an extra something something to his daily feed bag? Like you said, one day carrots, one day celery, one day peppers, one day cheese & crackers, one day shelled peanuts, one day grapes, one day apple, one day cucumbers etc etc?
At least hes realizing the sweets aren't going to work for him, and Im sure he'll hit the wall with salt too. I hope the snack of the day rotation thing works for him.2012: The Year Of The Purge!

wow I am proud of him hubby ate candy and gained so much weight he just could not help it. I could not get him to quit eating. He has lost it now but went back to smoking due to stress.. Good luck it is not an easy addiction to overcome. try chewing straws or crunching ice....

A friend of mine quit with cough drops, he smoke menthol so used the mint flavor. I think I will try that. I have 2 cartons at my house when they're gone that's it, I'm done. Congrads to your DH it's very hard to break this addiction, it's not as easy as people think.

Definately try raw vegetables. You might want to add some hummus which is easy to make. Try to think of heathly foods that he can eat in quantity. The reason being is once his tastebuds start to really kick in again food really tastes great!!!

The tastebuds thing is the big thing he's noticed. He's also sick now with a cold, which I know happens to a lot of people because of the nicotine being removed from your body.
Pistachios are just too fatty for him. It'd be worse than sugar.
I'm going to pick him up something this weekend. For now, we're going to stick with carrot sticks, I think. I do have broccoli but that's a mess to eat at work.

When my dad quit years ago his doctor insisted he take Niacin. My dad said it helped with the cravings.
He smoked from age 18 till 55, has been quit for years now, he is 69. Cold turkey, no patches, no sneaking, he said once he made up his mind he just made up his mind.
Granted, no one else could make up his mind for him so if your hubby falters it has nothing to do with you, he just can't seem to get there yet. But do encourage him to ask about the niacin. That was 14 years ago for my dad so medical opinions change all the time, don't know if it is still recommended.LDR
