Overspent but did DARNED good!
My family and I have been wanting a Wii system for quite some time now and have saved up the money to buy a used system. We went down to our local Gamestop to pick up one and maybe one or two used games.
Using the Gamestop member card, we walked out with a Wii, an extra controller, an extra nunchuk, a charging station, nine games (two of which were $50 each-hubby's "Pleeeaaase honey can I have these?") and a game book for $247. That included renewing the member card.
We got one of the $50 games for free just by buying the system, and everything else was buy two get one free. We ended up saving over $160 but it wasn't over yet.
Getting home we discovered there was a game disc still inside the system which was worth $35 used. In addition, there are at least six games installed that are now ours at about $15 each.
I didn't plan on spending that much today but...eesh.....I think we made out like bandits. Best part is listening to my daughter and her fiance squabble like toddlers while playing it!
Does anyone else think I got a good deal?Last edited by tracergal007; 12-08-2011 at 09:36 PM.

Sounds great to me! Congrats!
We did something similar about twenty years ago when the new Sega systems came out. We stumbled on the system with extra controller and about a dozen games for $150 at a pawn shop. It became the big family gift for our five teenagers that year.
I've bought the guide books too, but I've gotten the best gaming tips from online cheats and walkthroughs. The guides don't seem to give the right details to get me through the really difficult spots.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I just did a count:
there are a total of 17 games pre-purchased in the system that all are playable by us. With the ones I got in the store, that makes a total of 27 games, the system and all the controllers, guidebook and everything for $247. Four of the installed games are the older Zelda games, which I'm disturbingly addicted to. *faints*Let us always meet each other with smile, for the smile is the beginning of love.

Awesome deal!! Our Gamestop is almost the same price for used games as the new ones. I guess it won't hurt to go see if they have any good deals right now though. We have 2 Wii systems and we love them! I would love to have a third one. My kids and I play Animal Crossing together and we like to go into one another's town via the internet connection.

Picked up a wii with two remotes, a nunchuk, wii fit, wii fit board, and wii sports for $100 earlier this year on craigslist. Ive noticed they're pretty cheap there. We have Gamestop and Disc Replay here and Disc Replay rocks. I got the kinect and two games for xbox 360 for just about one hundred bucks used there the other day. Great deal and works fantastic.
