Of course the Gov's numbers look like unemployment is shrinking. The way they are figured is crazy! It is sad to hear in the news or in the paper daily about the lost jobs. Our dinky little township has a super high poverty rate. Over 50% of kids are on free lunch. A business wants to come in and open about 100 jobs. That is a huge number for such a small township. The darn county is fighting it tooth and nail. GRRRRRR Gee, decent jobs without driving 30+ miles to the city would be nice. Bringing some more life to the township. Geee that would be nice. The county wants more and more out of the business. I fear it will be like the last time it was tried and the company gave up and went to the next county 45 min away!!!!!!!!

I was laid off the week of Thanksgiving. No forseeable return date to work. This is peak season for hubby, who works in a warehouse for a major electronic retailer. Usually he has 12 hour days and tons of OT for the 3 months prior to Christmas. He has had only two weeks with OT.
My previous employer is also my landlord, (I worked in the sales office, nothing is selling, they are shortening hours open), and now I am just waiting to get a notice that since I am no longer an employee, my rent is going up. No, it would not make any sense to lay me off and raise my rent, but they are just the type of folks to do it.
We shall see.
It's not looking a whole lot better around here either."That which does not kill us makes us stronger."
