Question How many miles do you drive a week?

How much do you drive a week?

We have had our vehicle 10 years and every fill up up is recorded.

Over the past 10 years all driving including trips averaged out to 11 miles a week.

Our current average is more than that as the 11 average weekly is about half what it is to get Buddy to and from school in a week.

Around 250 per week for DH to get back and forth to work; DS to get back and forth to school and DH taking me on my errands.

But, that is not taking into account the following:

Every few (about every three) weeks we pick up DD from college and bring her home for the weekend. Those trips are 75 miles one way, an additional 300 miles to pick her up and drop her back off.

When we go on vacation every December, it is a 950 mile round trip.

DS plays varisty football - three games every year are out of town games, each is roughly 160 mile round trip.

DS also wrestles for his HS. The tournaments are out of town and can vary from 100 mile to 400 mile round trip. He has around ten out of town tournaments per season.

DS also throws shot put, javelin and discus for track and field. Several of those meets are out of town, about 175 mile round trip about six times a season.

When DD is home for summer break (first of May to first of August) from college, she will drive around additional 150 or so miles a week.

About 150 miles per week currently (five miles to work but I go home at lunch, then back to work, then home, errands on weekends or some evenings). When I "retire" in January, I expect that to go down to about 25 miles per week.

    It depends on the year.

A normal week is 75 miles for my husband's work and another 15-20 for once a week errands. If we have to shop for something out of town, it's at least 100 miles round trip plus driving around the town we drive to, but more likely either 150 miles or 220 miles. (We still prefer living at the end of the road.) We do our best to minimize our out of town trips. Last year we did multiple back to back 150-mile round trips to haul home all the cabinets and supplies for our kitchen remodel from the nearest home improvement store.

Last year we drove over 9,000 miles just for various vacations we took including Yellowstone/Grand Teton, an RV rally in Missouri, Door County, Wisconsin, and some other shorter trips most of which were at least 400 miles round trip. But that was an unusual year. This year we only put on 500 vacation miles because we opted to stay home and focus on all the home improvement stuff we neglected while driving 9,000 miles all over the country the year before. The trips were totally worth it though!

We usually get the low mileage discount on our cars from our insurance company.

Wow, I wish ours was less.

    I drive 50 miles 4x a week just for work alone = 200.
    DH drives 120 miles 5x a week for work = 600 miles

Then there's the obligatory play practice, volleyball, and basketball and any other school functions, pickups every single night and sometimes on Saturdays, 6 miles each 5-6x per week = 30 miles minimum

Every Sunday to the inlaws' place for a visit = 36 miles

866 per week just for regular stuff.

And if we have to go for groceries, shopping, supplies or whatever, that's all additional mileage. So we're easily doing 900 miles every week. Eeek, that's about 47,000 miles per year!!

me (school year) 9x5 = 45 miles per week. The grocery store is on the way home. I'll round up to 50 miles a week because sometimes I need to drive around the parking lot (non-school year) 1 x 2 = 2 miles per week. The bank, grocery store, gas station is in the same place.

OldMan - (average 4 day work week - his car) 99 miles (I'll round him up to 110 because he sometimes stops at the store on his way home that isn't in his driving path)

OldMan - work, roughly 800 miles a week, luckily it isn't in our car or on our dime.
I can't be out of money... I still have checks left!

I drive 150 -200 miles per week commuting to work, depending on how many days I go in. Then probably 50-100 on my 3 or 4 days off each week. So 200-300.

I don't drive much a week probably 25 miles a week. I work about 7 miles away from home so that's very nice but I did work closer only 2 miles away. I used to ride my bike to work in the summer that was nice. Dh worked nearer to work also he used to drive his scooter to work but now he works farther so can't do that anymore. ):

~Wow, at only 11 miles a week you should consider a car free lifestyle. That's very impressive!
Between our two cars we drive 250 miles a week. That's just by averaging.
A typical week is 110 miles for DH's commute plus a bonus 25 miles on that car for a weekend golf outing/errand run. On the family car I usually log 25 miles a week to my mother's and 5-15 miles for errands. The missing 75+ miles in my average comes from the road-trips we make to PA, VA and NC every year.~

I drive over 400 a week. This is going to work, picking my son up and making one errand run during the week.
