Wow. I guess that stack in our living room is worth more than I thought it was. $1 a pound? I'll have to post this over on our camping forum so people can stop whining about how expensive a bundle of wood is at a campground, where the price is nowhere near that much.
Birch is a wonderful firewood though. It burns a long time and is great for open-fire cooking, and it does make a pretty fire. Most of the campgrounds around here sell it.
Mostly we burn crappy popple because we have so much of it on our property. It looks like birch but it burns fast and hot and you can't cook over it.
I can't recall for sure, but it seems like the last time we priced a cord of birch, it was about $400, cut, stacked, and delivered. I'm quite sure there's way more than 400 pounds in a cord.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Cea,
I'm embarrassed to say that I would love to receive that little bundle as a gift. LMAO.
I can't say I'd ever buy one, though. I'm with ya on that. If it burns and heats my house, I'm good - don't care if it's pretty or ugly. But way to go for the business owners, I guess...
