The children got her knick knacks and a cell phone grrr. Can't let her use a space heater she will not turn it off and she a bout set the house on fire. Hubby will take a fit when the gas, water, garbage and sewage and comes in it will be at least $350. plus 280, cable, 185 dollar furniture, 204 car ins, 379 electric and the new one is due at 175..... He will take a fit on all I am gonna set back and take it all in....

this sounds like an idea.....
i am on a frugal non spend adventure this year because i have to....i have to get these under control so the stress goes down a little...its not healthy to live that way.....so i will remember this when i get to a point i cant take it anymore i will take my $10 bill and head to the thrift store.....
also oheosmoma when dh pitches a fit....just say so all done with that and tell him how it is...that is what i am doing with dh...i told him that there is no money for groceries this next paycheck because we need to catch up and there is plenty of food in the house, just might not be what he wants...he will not go hungry....he answers back with any drink is gonna be expensive so you can still buy soda...i tell him water is free out of the faucet so that takes care of the drink issue...haha....i mean there will be an end reward for dh to keep him on track....like in three months with all that we save...depending on how much we can save there will be a gift for him...2012 Goals

oheoh's momma, we have an oil fill radiators and they're the bomb! They both have temp controls and there's no way to set anything on fire. Our cat lays right up against it for hours and she hasn't caught fire yet.

My kids are grown and gone so there went most of my yelling turn off the lights, don't touch the thermostat. You would not believe how much extra money I had when they left lol. My DH knows better, the only thing I had to do there was cut up his debit card, now peace.

Debt free for the first time in my life !!!!!!!

It's interesting. Thinking back, I never touched my parent's thermostat.

They make those little 'cage' things that cover the thermostat, like landlords use. We had to get one when my mother-in-law was getting dementia and kept turning the heat WAY up! Also, the newer space heaters are safer and more energy efficient than those from the past. I agree with the oil-filled radiator ones because things can't catch fire near them, also the small ceramic ones are great. Ours shuts off automatically if tipped.
Sometimes, you need to spend a little money to save money. Are there other siblings that could help with these expenses, since you are the ones taking care of grandma?
