    Angry AT&T U Verse grrrrrrrrr

    I cancelled my U verse internet account in November and now they are trying to charge me a 150.00 for an early termination fee. I never was made aware at the being or when being disconnected that I was ever under any contract, much less going to be charged an early termination fee. I called 3 times yesterday and was on hold approx 45 min, talked to 4 different people and was supposed to be contacted by a supervisor never was.

    I refuse to pay this !!!!!!!!!!!!!!. Never do business with this stupid company.

    Went thru this with Century Link. How did you sign up? In person, by phone? Was anything signed? Was there EVER a phone conversation where the conversation accepting the terms recorded?

    Century Link tried to tell us we were under contract ( business ) and I also went thru a half dozen people with each saying we were under a 2 year contract. Nope.

    I told each one of them there was absolutely NO paperwork, nothing period was signed and if there was I wanted them to produce it. They said sometimes there was a recording at the end of the sign up that stood as contract. I told them there was no recording cause there was no phone conversation. Produce the recording or the paperwork in court.

    Last they put me thru at my request to the supervisor and she started with the same speech but when I told her there was neither and asked her to fax a copy of the contract or mail a copy of the recording she had to agree/admit that No, we were actually under NO CONTRACT. She said sometimes it goes thru without either and apparently we were one of them. She didn't argue and was actually pretty nice about it.
    Bank of America is THE godfather of Hell with Wells Fargo running neck and neck. When the world ends the only things that will be left are cockroaches, Walmart, Wells Fargo and Bank of America. Not necessarily in that order. The order remains to be seen.

    Sorry you are dealing with this. It's a good lesson for the future though.

    When cancelling anything always ask about termination fees multiple times, from multiple people if need be. They have ways of putting you under contract even without you signing anything. The fine print can state that by accepting their services you are accepting the terms of the contract.

    Ignorance of the law does not make one exempt from the law.

    Sorry you are dealing with it...........hope it gets worked out.

    I wouldn't just "assume" that they are right and would keep
    screaming............be sure to DOCUMENT, DOCUMENT, DOCUMENT while doing so............date, time and NAMES!!

    att uverse is month to month
    11% gross to retirement
    10% takehome to tithe and offerings
    emergency fund maintained at 3000(works for me)
    credit card debt 7500
    mortgage free
    freedom accounts/sinking funds that ebb and flow
    then live on the rest!

    i am trying something new. LDS church advises savings or debt repayment should be the same as the tithe. 10% each.

    Update: I was determined to resolve this, called and kept asking for supervisors, until one of them gave me the correct number to call. Explained to rep and they took care of it and now I'm getting a 28.00 refund YEA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    went through a similar thing with ATT-Uverse. And the crazy thing is it isn't even available in our area yet, however they charged us a fee for 4 months without us knowing about it until they cut off our REGULAR internet for non-payment. Then I got the "pleasure" of holding and talking to no less than 7 different ATT reps to get it straightened out....or so we thought. They turned on the regular internet, refunded about 75% of what they charged and said the service was cancelled...then 3 months later, SAME thing all over again. This time I called after work around 4:30 and was placed on hold until 6:00 when the business office closed. Then the phone just went dead. Called back and was informed I need to call again between 8 and 6 or something like that. Never did get it 100% straightened out. Watching bill like a hawk. Calling frequently, but according to ATT we are Uverse customers although we DO not, have not, will never have Uverse, it isn't even AVAILABLE in our area. They suck!

    The funny thing is the cust rep tried to get me to come back to AT&T I think not !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Att bundle including cell ran about 267 now with Mediacom 131 for all the movie channels, cable, phone, faster internet and locked in rate for 3 years, plus got my cell down to 35, it's still att FOR NOW. Savings of almost 100 a month.
