CC Cancellation Question...
I called and canceled my B of A Visa card yesterday. I have read some informational articles that say that when you cancel a card you should follow up in writing, to make sure they do indeed cancel as you requested and to request that they say the card was canceled at the customers request. I am not overly worried about the credit report. If they stated something false on it I would just get it corrected...but I doubt my little $2000 cc account is going to be that problematic when reported as being closed.
I happen to have a company credit card that is also with B of A. Although it surprised me to learn that when I logged on to my personal credit card information, once I was issued the company card it was listed on there as well.
After I talked to the gentleman at B of A yesterday I logged on about 2 hours later and my personal card account is not listed anymore...only the company one. This leads me to believe that he definitely did cancel the card. It had a 0 balance due.
Is it still necessary to send a follow-up letter? Thoughts?Right is right even if no one else is doing it. Wrong is wrong even if everyone else is doing it.
IF IT IS TO BE.....IT IS UP TO ME

Think some will say no.......but I always do. Or else I will
ask for something in writing.
I had two of them not cancelled a few years back.........so just precaution on my part.

I request a letter. I throw it in my pile of "papers I'm afraid to throw away even though I never look at them".
I have yet to regret keeping something. Its the things I don't keep that tend to be a problem later.LDR
