Online ordering? NO THANK YOU!! (Vent)

Sorry this happened to you. Unfortunately it does happen. MOST companies bend over backwards to get items to buyers my Christmas. I ordered an item and KNEW at the time I ordered it that most likely would not be here by Christmas. The item was on sale and had free shipping. I got an email this morning that they sent it overnight yesterday and the tracking shows it will be here today!

I sell online and I advertise that I ship next day or next business day upon receipt of payment. There have only been a couple of occasions where I had to refund due to heavy sales and running out of inventory. BUT I promptly informed my customers that I was refunding and that I would let them know when the item was in stock again.

Unfortunately not all sellers and companies do business like that. I tend to stick with companies like Amazon and eBay. But you have to know you are gambling to some extent when it is a hot item, the holiday season, you haven't done business with the company, etc. It can be a crap shoot.

I would do as a previous poster stated, take a picture, wrap it up, and let your child know the item will arrive shortly. That is all you can do. And request a shipping refund.

Keep your fingers crossed, the item COULD arrive before Christmas!

Also there can be customs delays which the shipper has no control over. I have had items that I shipped from the US to Canada sit in Canadian customs for weeks.

Funny enough, DH works for a company that freight forwards for Best Buy and he says that this year, it's crazy slow for them... even this close to Christmas.

I emailed the company and if I don't hear anything by the end of today, I'm calling them and requesting a shipping chargeback.

I already filed a complaint with the BBB and this is where I should be kicking myself in the rear. 192 complaints.... 66 in the last three months. About 51% of those complaints are delivery.

I would take a picture of the items and give it to him, but he still actually believes in Santa. I think what I might do is when the package gets here, I'll wait until he's at school and set up his room for him. But the explaining as to why it happened would be tricky.

Just tell him you're not sure how it got there - be sure to leave a note that its from "Santa" and that he found this gift under a blankie as he was cleaning out his sleigh
