Default Online ordering? NO THANK YOU!! (Vent)

I am so, so, so irritated... still.

Long story short, I ordered something for DS8 online. I ordered it back the day before American Thanksgiving. A week later, I received an email stating that the order had been processed and was given an invoice. (This was after being told that I had entered the credit card number wrong -- which I don't normally do.)

(This is an item that I could not get in Canada at all, hence the online ordering.)

Anyways, so between now and the 14th of December, I played email hockey with this company. I was sent an email back on the 14th, stating that the order had been shipped after the item had originally sold out but been restocked. So here I am, sitting on my thumbs, waiting for a tracking number for the item. I had selected Global Express, realizing that the holiday rush may result in the package not arriving before Sunday. So, I ponied up the extra $17 for it.

(In total, the shipping charge was $53 -- the item was coming from Hawaii and for 3-9 days to Canada, it was that much.)

Last night, this is where I got really mad.

I received an email with a customs processing number on it, but no tracking number. The CP# can be used on the USPS website to track the package, which I am fine with. However, the method of shipping and the date that it was shipped really rub me the wrong way. It was shipped on the 17th via Global Priority...

with a 1-4 week delivery date.

I had been told on the 14th that the item was shipped at that time and that it would arrive this week. But now, I'm being told it was shipped on the 17th and may not get here until the end of January?!

Yeah, color me crimson raging red.

So this is my Christmas vent and my declaration that I am never EVER ordering anything online ever again. I'll take my chances going to the continent's largest mall the night before Christmas to get an item or just give up on the idea of the item all together.

This was an item that was to be my DS8's big present this year. But instead, I have to figure out another creative way to give it to him if it arrives after Sunday.

I just want to punch someone in the face so horribly hard that their jaw breaks in little, tiny pieces.

I'm in almost the same situation.
I ordered something on Nov 17th with an estimated delivery time of 2 weeks.
I won't bore you with all the details of the email hockey and telephone bantering that was held but needless to say the gift will arrive between Christmas and New Year - they say!

BTW the company I used was Groupon - NEVER again.

Oh my goodness. That sounds like a shady company.

You should continue to call them DAILY until the package arrives. Register a complaint against them with the BBB as well. How horrible! I hope it arrives 'just in time' ie before Sunday. *hugs* Any word of you getting reimbursed for your shipping costs since it clearly won't arrive within the 3-9 days?

Really sorry to hear that! I do most of my gift purchasing on-line, and I can't even remember the last time I had a problem (knock on wood). Of course, I need to stop relying on on-line stuff anyway, because I have been wanting to not use my cc or dc, to "starve the beast" of the cc companies. Unfortunately, I am also exceptionally lazy when it comes to shopping, and hate to deal with crowds, so I typically get about 90% of my Christmas presents from the internet.

I wouldn't let one bad experience put you off. I order stuff all the time, in fact I did 99% of my holiday shopping online this year with no issues. There are always going to be a few bad apples in the barrel who mail late, and sometimes with shipping you can't really do anything if it takes 6-8 weeks to deliver. I always try to get reviews on a place before I place a new order.

Do a chargeback for the delivery charges. You paid for something, you didn't receive it. Unless you used a debit card, then you're probably out of luck.

Sorry that happened to you...in my experience most companies I've ordered from will bust their butts making sure my items arrive in time for Christmas! I don't think I've ever gotten anything late. It may still arrive in time.

Can you print out a photograph of the item and make a nice handmade card with the photo in it and give that to him for Christmas? It's not the same but at least it's something... sorry I can't come up with a better idea.

I do all my shopping online, hate the crowds and (knock wood) haven't had a problem.. To the OP, I'm sorry this company is giving you such a hard time & hope you find a way to not let this spoil your Christmas cheer.

Sounds like a "Best Buy" moment. BB is notorious for cancelling people's orders all together, weeks later, after the customer was told they'd get their order eventually (backorder). They finally got caught this year by the press, and now we're all getting refunds via a gift card for all our cancelled orders by them during the Christmas season (we weren't charged for the original order either). Got mine this morning! The "free money" is a hard way to save face, they'll lose a lot of money.

Online ordering can be questionable at times, I've learned not to order from places I've never heard of, and have found certain sites to be 100% reliable (newegg, bloomingdales, amazon (not 3rd party), etc. You might try reporting them to the online BBB?

I agree! I ordered something for my DS#2 that was supposed to be here by a certain day. I paid extra for expedited shipping and it was not delivered by the deadline the company had stated it would be. I called the company and complained that I had paid the extra for a reason and I did not receive as promised and they refunded the extra shipping charges, so I would call and complain. If that doesn't work, I would file a report with the BBB.

Hopefully a miracle will occur and your item will arrive today or tomorrow!
