I would also allow craft type stores to have out craft type holiday items early. But other stores? No.

Our director at the library buys truckloads of candy to put out for the patrons. She inadvertently picked up a bag of Christmas candy before Thanksgiving. As we were running out, we went on and used it, but it did get a few comments!

Retailers have just lost all sense of seasons and the flow of time. As I've said in another post, it seems to me that it would be confusing for young children in the stores with their parents. How do you explain to a four year old in September that it really isn't close to Christmas, or that Valentine's won't show up for couple of months, and Easter is even farther away? The milestones of the year are melting away into a mishmash. I guess I'm old and curmudgeonly enough to regret that because it seems like a real loss.

Was it from last season pulled outta hiding?

Holidays are what you make it. What advertising companies are not realizing is that they're purposely desensitizing us so one day we'll consider advertising as the norm, kind of like wallpaper.

My friend is receiving manager for Macy's in Rochester. She said that they were starting to receive stock for Easter as of a week or two ago.

Hmmm...this may be very good news for clearances after Christmas. I'll have to keep my eyes peeled.

Hmmm....... I always buy generic red and green stuff at the Christmas sales exactly FOR those two holidays. (My birthday is St. Patrick's Day - so it is a holiday at our house)

I have always appreciated Nordstrom's because they refuse to even decorate for Christmas until AFTER Thanksgiving. (Mind you, I cannot afford to actually shop there!)
