Is anyone else worried about the 2012 economy?
For some reason I have an uneasy feeling about the economy for 2012, does anyone else or am I just crazy ?????????? I know I have been holding on to my money a lot tighter than usual and I was already tight.

I don't think it is gonna get any better.. It has already been 5 year down turn... There are too many problems to fix at a snap of a finger. It is gonna take a lot of time the political parties working together... Even people who are frugal are going to have to tighten up.... I don't think the global economy is fairing well either. The only solution is people being self suficient and pulling them up by the boot straps. I also think old fashioned ways of the depression are going to make a strong come back. ( like the Waltons)

I don't really see any improvement but more of the same. We have already tightened the budget, I just don't know where I can tighten any more.

I also think the reason we are very skeptical is becuse
of the 2012 december 21 scenario...i think the closer it gets the scareder people are going to get...Not this chick....just for kicks and giggles last night i looked it up and there are many websites that spell out doomsday however if you look at the credibility of the sites...its really not a big deal....ust like 2000,.....there are also sites out there telling us that is not the end of the world and that the winter something or rather and the poles all being aligned has happened before and the world has held together......I am not worried about what the earth is going to do however i am a little skeptical on how the earths players are going to play.....all i know is that i will have to have lots and lots of wood cut and split.....lots and lots of water and food, batteries, candles etc and i will whether just fine....

2012 will be interesting.
I can only control my own household budget. I will keep a tight rein, shop harder for bargains, dust off old skills, and try to stay positive. It will be , what it will be.--------My signature--------

I don't buy into the 2012 doom's day thing. But the the way things are getting scares me a bit but im stocking up on batteries, candles, can goods, blankets, extra personal items. I have a nice stock pile but also think of my grandsons and my oldest daughter if anything would happen they would live with us. So we take one day at a time.

I'm slightly concerned because of what the political parties may push through in an effort to win votes during this political year. We'll be tightening the belt anyway as we're trying to save for a house and pay off all our debt in the process as well as the fact that we'll be welcoming baby #2 in January. I want to put us in as good of a financial position as possible.

I'm concerned. It has nothing to do with the doomsday stuff though.
I'm working on my stockpile, paying down our bills...
Not a whole lot you can do. Im very disappointed in our leadership, republican and democrat. Next November we will collectively elect another media approved joker, and we will once again get the government we deserve because we just don't learn.

Well yes, and no. I'm not worried about some catastrophic event, but I am worried about my families ability to support ourselves on a much smaller income, with ever rising prices.
I think the nervousness is valid. We are on shifting sand. As our economy sputters for breath, and we see food, oil, electric and goods prices rising as our income is lowering, how can we help but feel uncertain about the future?
IMHO this is just a shifting (some would say a righting
) of economic levels. A bigger divide between the haves and the have nots. When my oldest was graduating his senior year there was a report out that said that what your parents did to earn an income of $100,000 will now be an income with a ceiling of $30,000 for his graduating class. And that's EXACTLY what we've seen around here. A lot of jobs out there that made $100,000 and above are now $30,000 and under jobs. A lot of the living wage jobs, like factory jobs are long gone. The jobs that are being created are low paying service jobs. Which means that if a recovery is signified by just job numbers, not salary, then we are creating a new playing field, and it's not pretty. Of course they say a recovery is also determined by how confident the stock market is, but that does not translate into decent wage jobs flooding the U.S..
I think we are looking at a change in how we live and spend money. The poster who said that we are headed back to a time like the Waltons may very well be spot on. I don't see our boys being able to support their own households if the future economic levels continue to have such a wide divide between the haves and the have nots. I think it's going to hurt, and hurt a lot. A regression of birth in a way. Sad, but I think our glory days are over.~~~

Not overly concerned but I am continuing my frugal ways. We stock up on deals, keep a full pantry. Just bought both kids new warm jackets. I am going to be tracking my food budget (hoping I can keep it to $100 per week). I am noticing prices going up and less good sales

I am not too concerned. We will be working to become debt free this upcoming year while purchasing a second vehicle with cash. The biggest changes for us will be spending less on things we dont need.
