Vinegar question!
I want to use vinegar for cleaning and other household uses. But they don't sell "white household vinegar" here. The kinds of vinegar that they sell here are:
- red wine vinegar (this is by far the cheapest and I have a ton of it)
- white wine vinegar
- apple vinegar
- apple cider vinegar (not sure what the difference is but I have both)
They don't sell rice wine vinegar but I have a little bit that my mom brought with her when she visited.
Can I use red wine vinegar the way white household vinegar is used? I understand it might stain, so if I'm worried about staining, could I use white wine vinegar? (It's much more expensive than red wine vinegar so I would use it less often.)
For things like cleaning a drain, though, I don't care. I don't know what to do about this - no one I know here uses vinegar for cleaning, they just buy regular cleaning products. But red wine vinegar is 24 cents for a bottle so if I could use that, it would be really great....My Brand-New Blog: http://homeingreece.wordpress.com

Try googling white distilled vinegar. Maybe it is just a matter of wording. Is the white wine vinegar just as inexpensive? I would go with that if you can't find the distilled vinegar. That way you would not have to worry about staining.
Remember, if you are going to be using the vinegar for just cleaning you can probably use the cheapest vinegar you can find.

The white wine vinegar is like 80 cents/ bottle vs. 24 cents for the red - but still much cheaper than the cleaning products!
I think if the household vinegar that I'm looking for is made from grapes, it's probably ok to use wine vinegar. I was thinking it might be made from something else.My Brand-New Blog: http://homeingreece.wordpress.com

according to wikipedia, you can distill any type of vinegar to make white household (distilled) vinegar - so I can distill my red wine vinegar and alotofgooddeals you can distill your apple cider vinegar! But now the question is HOW to distill the stuff!
