Scary website
Dh just showed me a scary website.
Spokeo dot com.
If you know the first and last name of anyone in the United States, it shows a picture of your home, who lives in your home and alot about you!!!! If you want to dig deeper, it will cost money but it was sure an eye opener on how vunerable we all are on the internet.Dh Bob

oh goody, it even shows things like our assesed home value...so the burglars know if you're a home worth breaking into or not. Some of the info listed for me is inccurate, from family size to the picture of our home, but I am looking into how to be removed.
'All of the information that appears on Spokeo is publicly available and therefore may appear on other sites. To protect your online identity you can use a service like Reputation.com to manage your publicly available information. '
Yes, it may all be public info, I don't like it being so easily at the fingertips of anyone who can log into one website and type in my name.

There is some way to get "unlisted" on it but I can't remember what it is----we learned about this site a couple of years ago at work and all of us were astounded and angry at what it revealed.
Sometimes I really feel the 'Net is more bad than good.

Yep, I've posted here about that site before. Funny thing is that I haven't checked it in a long time and did about a month ago. Arg, they now how pictures of your house and before you had to zoom in and it wasn't that good. You used to not have to pay for info either.
Some info is way wrong, but yeah, the net can be a scary place. People can find out what they want about you.

You can click on privacy at the very bottom of the page to remove your listing. I did this months ago when I came across this website. I am no longer searchable.

well-Zillow.com has a picture of your house, the value, tax assesses, how much you bought it for, school nearest you,and the neighbors. I can see my cars in the picture too.
Then you can look up white pages and get the phone number, address and assoc. people.
For a fee you can get criminal record, employment records.
And then there's facebook.
Even if you don't have facebook your kids prob. do.
Nothing is private now,nothing.
I went up there and the house picture is closer for Zillow. The cell phone suprised me. The thing that struck me though was what cookies are they collecting by me just going there????

Nothing is private.. Pretty soon it will be known to who i borrow money from how much you owe ect to the public. It is if some some one hacks your online account.

I don't know what's scarier....the fact that some of the information is correct or that they have my husband listed as a white female that is Catholic
he's black and obviously male and he doesn't run around in little Catholic school girl outfits since he's Baptist
what is disturbing is that ALL of the information for my dad is correct. down to the street level picture of his house.

I remember someone posting this a few years ago and I requested myself to be removed. I had totally forgotten about the site. I just looked and I'm not there except there is a listing that shows me living at my old work place lol. That there are 2 parents there and I'm the child lol. I need to look up my husband and see if he shows up....
Edit*
Ok my husband is on it, but it has him as a female. It also has a pic of our house, which peeves me off. It is an old pic though. We moved here about 5 years ago and painted the outside in the first year...the pic has the old color. I think they got the house info from google maps or zillow. He is not on any social media sites so it can't be from there. And I can't find how to remove him! It was easier to remove myself years ago, it was an obvious click here thing....not now.
