    Default My Homemade Rice Pack...

I made my own Rice packs many years ago now..it started when I decided to give my family member's homemade gifts and found this on the dollar stretcher site...All I can say is I absolutely love them..In the winter I'm alway's cold so I heat my 2 rice packs up in the microwave for 3 minutes each, wrap in a dishtowel and use one for my feet(I get into bed and keep the rice pack a few inches from my feet so not to burn myself but still feel the heat from it.) and the other I put on my stomach on top of the covers because it's to hot to put it on top of one layer of clothes..I was just thinking that it is one of the most frugal things that I do every year rather than turn the heat up..I use them EVERY winter and within a half in hour I'm all toasty warm for the night..I also use my rice packs in the summer by putting them in the freezer to cool off..I hope this makes you want to try them yourself!

Every now and again I'll remember to use mine but just not often enough. We have one that is tubular (think tube sock) with rope handles on each side. It fits nicely around the neck but not at the foot of the bed.

I think I'll need to make something flatter or more like a pouch to use.

The very first ones I made I added a few drops of essential oils to the rice for the aromatherapy sp? (lilac) experience..quite calming effects I might add..I made myself the Eucalyptus essentual oil for my cold...LOL..I about passed out from the VERY strong smell..I added to many drops to that one! live & learn..Enjoy!

My MIL made us one and we live it. Wish I could have a set of rice gloves.
