Something I said I wouldn't do...
I just pushed the car start button on my clicker to prewarm the car. I don't ever idle and here I am.....idling!
Its 35 outside and it's cold but I never had this feature before so I feel kind of like I've sucked it up for 42 years so I am fighting the frugal girl in me for......heat.
Love the heated seat though!
Whoops time to take dd to school. Only idled 2 minutes. The math never lies, budget in INK!

I'm also in Texas, and apparently pretty close to you because it's also really cold this morning here, as well. I have those features on my car, and laughed when we bought the car, saying I'd never use the seat warmers. Guess we do get a couple days a year to do that. I also used my remote start to warm my car up this morning. Guilty has company.
Totally debt free since January 2011.

All I can do is laugh at the idea that 35 is cold. Sorry.
It would take forever for the inside of a car to get warm while idling, certainly a lot longer than two minutes.
It was nine degrees outside when we were out running errands yesterday and people we talked to all over town were saying what a nice day it was. And it was a beautiful day.
The butt warmer seats would be nice though, and I'm sure we'd use them when it was 35... below.
Enjoy your toys.

Oh wow it was so warm in there! LOL!
I can understand how the Norther States would laugh at us thinking 35 is cold but to us where balmy is 85 and hot is 100 plus for 3 months it is.
Luckily for me dd will get her license in a week or two and so we gave her my old 2005 Impala and I got the 2010 new Impala so I won't be tempted because I won't be out and about in these frigid Texas mornings!
I've been driving kids to school for so many years and this is my last little baby. I won't know what to do with myself now that I am off the school run duty. The math never lies, budget in INK!

I don't always use my remote starter. However it is great when the windshield is frosted over or it has been snowing. I try to remember to turn the defrost on high when I come in at night.
Like SpiritDeer said it would take forever to get warm while idling but,it does get things started so that once you get on the road the car doesn't take long to warm up. I have my timer set on 10min but I usually start my car just before I go to get my coat. DH has his set for 20min. I'm always getting on his case for wasting gas.

11 DEGREES THIS MORNING! 11 DEGREES!
If it were 35, I'd be wearing shorts.
I can understand how 35 would be chilly for you Southern Belles.
And I did start my car and have my heat blaring for about 15 minutes prior to take off. Didn't want my Moo Cow to get chilled.McD

Seat warmers are the best thing ever! I absolutely love them. Nothing better than letting the car warm up for a few minutes and when you get in the leather is already nice and toasty.
I am in the deep south as well and anything under 40* is freezing! Woke up this morning to 30* and am hating it! So glad this only happens maybe twice a year and the temps are suppose to jump back up to the 70's in a couple of days.DD (19)

Yeah, that happens all the time here. Whenever we get a little chilly spell, as soon as the temps get back up to freezing, people break out the shorts.
Not all southerners are weather wimps. I talked to a college student from Georgia a week or so ago who was wearing shorts and didn't seem a bit cold. Outside temps were probably in the twenties, since we're having such a warm dry year here.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Yes its a frigid 16 here today. I think I need to move south. I would love to not have the cold temps and snow. I have lived with it all my life, ready for a change.
someday.....

I am a total weather wimp. I had to go to Cali for work in November and was expecting 80 degree weather. I ended up with 50 degree weather and I shivered and moaned the whole way through it.
I like a perfect 74 degree day and would like that year round, with the occasional rainstorm.McD

Love my remote start! I also have a block heater for my truck but I only use that when it's sub zero.

Bf rented a car to surprise visit me and they had upgraded him to one with seat warmers.
Oh My that was NICE!! Colorado here, it gets COLD. I totally understand the thrill of seat warmers now. My butt was so toasty the entire weekend.

sssssub zero?????????
We never really get snow here at all and it is so funny to see kiddos 8-10 years old go outside in the snow as if to say "So this is snow?".
I keep my car under cover all year round so ice and other issues are non issues.
