    Default Sears Optical

Looks like Sears Optical is running their special on glasses. 2 pairs for $99.99 which includes no-line bifocals. Guess who is getting new glasses. The pair I wear now are a couple of years old and have scratches. They work but I know I need an update on the lenses. So glad they are running this special. Hope someone else out in FV land can use it.

I don't know if you have bought glasses before with one of these specials, but it comes out to way more money than they lead you to believe. We did one of their specials for $99 and wound up paying $179.
Same thing happened with America's best even though we called and questioned about the add on's.
If you have bought glasses before you probably know about this, but if you are new to buying them just be aware.

I've ordered several pairs of glasses from zennioptical.com. They seem to be as good quality as the 2/$99 ones.

Yes I have used Sears Optical before for glasses when they run the special. I just stick with what is advertised and the frames that the special goes with. Personally I would rather go to the store to see what frames are available gives me a much better idea on how they will fit. To many frames are to big for my face.

As far as price goes as long as you stick with what is advertised there has never been additional fees added.

My whole extended family has used Zenni and have been very happy with them! As far as getting your glasses to fit your face, I take a pair of my current glasses and use the numbers on the inside. For example 46-17-134, the 46 is the width of each lens, the 17 is the width of the bridge of your glasses (your nose area), and the 134 is the length of the arms of your glasses (this number is usually on the arm of the glasses). So, if you try to order glasses that have numbers that are the same (or very close), your glasses will fit much better. Also, keep in mind that if you get glasses with nosepieces you can adjust those better to help with the fit. Hope that helps!!

We did get only the special and we had to pay extra for something like a cleaning kit; and each of our total was $179. It was nothing that we added. I can't remember exactly because it was about 4 years ago.

    Default Sears Optical Special

I tried using Sears one time for my glasses. It was all-in-all a terrible experience. I paid more than was advertised and the prescription just didn't work at all for me (it was their doctor too). There was a return option if I didn't like the glasses but that proved to be a hoop-jumping experience that I failed, at least with the local store. So, I found the home office number in Chicago and called them and registered a complaint. Next thing I knew, I was asked to go to the store and receive my refund! Yea!!!!!
I've had great success with Sam's in Addison TX. The doctor they use for exams is terrific and reasonable. Their frames are not always inexpensive but their service is great and I find the frames really last a long time. I do find I can get nicer frames at a discount but it still feels like more than I want to spend. On the other hand, you could purchase the frames elsewhere and have Sam's make the lenses or just take the prescription wherever you like.
We recently got new lenses for my husband's glasses at a small optical shop, independently owned. We found them to be extraordinarily cost-effective.
