Restaurant food is really, really expensive here. It costs way more to eat out and portions are smaller than in the States. It is definitely cheaper to eat at home.

It is cheaper to eat at home. That being said, we do eat out every once in awhile and one thing that we have noticed is that FAST FOOD is not financially feasible anymore, for us anyway. The price of those standard fast food combos is somewhere around $6-$7 at most places around here....with the exception of McDonalds where I think you can still get a Big Mac combo for somewhere around $5.60. BUT.....we have a few sit-down restaurants in town where meals are cheaper than that. There is a Mexican restaurant here that has $3.99 lunches and $4.99 dinners, and I'm talking about 3-item combos plus you get chips and salsa. Not a bad deal at all! This same place has kids meals for 2.99 including drink--also cheaper than fast food. This has become our go-to place when we decide to have a meal out.
