Default Do you ever read other frugal forums

I am not a member at any other frugal forums but I have read a bit on others and I just have to say that I love it here! I was reading some posts on one and well.....it just seemed to me that there was no frugality there whats so ever! One poster spent $45 at the grocery and said that would cover 2 meals.......thats half of y weekly grocery budget for 6 people! So what about yall? Oh and I am sure there are other great forums on frugal living but this one is my favorite!!

I have been to other forums that touted that they were frugal but weren't. This one is the one I feel at home in. Such great advice from people, really you can find anything here. I also like the fact that trouble makers are disposed of quickly, then I can focus on what the board is really here for.

    What????
There's other life out there outside our village walls???

I will occasionally read some of the frugal blogs but my heart will always remain here in the village with me family...

The simple living forum is pretty nice, but still NOTHING compared to this site. That forum was originally based on the "Your Money or Your Life" books (YMOYL).

(Hope I didn't break any rules by mentioning it here.) This board is much bigger with many more specific topics.

I hit another frugal board, but they are more like a bunch of guys sitting around in suits talking about the best place to put their retirement money. It is good information. But, here is more like we are sitting around a kitchen table drinking our coffee or tea and nibbling on goodies that people brought and talking about ways that we found to save money. It is definately more cozy here.

I read a couple before I found FV, this is the only one that I cared for the way it felt, comfy, and comaradership(sp) abounds here. And even though I have several duhu moments, its okay,

Nope, not interested. This is a family. Just like a family some come and go but when they come back it's like a reunion. They catch people up with what's happened in their lives and are welcomed back with open arms.

I just read them for the articles... (feel a little "playboyish" saying that )

If I am looking for something via google, I will read the information I was looking for (ex: frugal cement staining). As far as the interactive features... not interested.

I've seen some places that slam on each and I am not interested in that.
I can't be out of money... I still have checks left!

When I stumbled upon FV in 08, it was the first frugal oriented site I had found. I didn't realize there were "other" sites as well until some members here posted about the inappropriate behaviors at the other sites and proclaimed FV was the best. Needless to say, I didn't have to look any further than my own back yard.

Sarah and Gabe do an excellent job running this site. Thank you.

I have been a member of several other sites in the past. None of them like this one though. Many years ago I was even the leader of a frugal board but left when the members decided to bash each other and it became more of a daily brawl then a learning forum. Other sites I have been a member of have been the same. One or two people take over and demand this or that, bash everyone else's views, etc. Although that happens here at times too it's nowhere ever as bad as other places and someone here usually puts a quick stop to it.
