Nodmicks, you said it right, "I have found with beef lately it is sometimes cheaper to buy steak or roast over ground beef. That is crazy!"

I've been buying roasts on sale and making them strettcchhhhh!
The Kroger here has been having them on sale about every two weeks so I stock up on them.
Yeah it is crazy! Dh said "we ate ground beef when we were so broke we didnt have a nickle left. What the heck does a super broke person eat now?" I replied "air , everything is expensive!"

You all have reminded me of a few more. Asparagus, raw nuts, fresh berries and just in general as much fresh produce as I would like to eat!

I'd have to say beef roasts too. They are ridiculous expensive here. Certain fruits too like kiwi are so good but so expensive. Here is a weird one. I like beef jerky...but oh man is it expensive. I did break down and buy a bag last night but it hurt. I'm savoring every bite. LOL...and eating it very carefully so as to make it last.

Little Miss will be selling those in a bit. Will buy one or two boxes.

What kind is your favorite? People I know have been talking about store brands that taste like them and copy cat recipes online for them.

Polly, I have a grapefruit tree that is LOADED. Not sure if they are ripe yet. My lemon and blood orange trees are also promising a bumper crop this year. I am crazy for blood oranges, but they are usually in the $3/lb range or more at the stores, so I planted a tree a few years back and just started harvesting from it last year. The fruit makes the sweetest OJ you will ever taste!!

Living near the central valley of California is great for cheap fruits and veggies, but I do love mangoes, and they are super expensive here. I refuse to pay $2 for something I will finish off in about 30 seconds!!
