Not the greatest start to the new year...
So midnight New Years was spent in er with my seven month old baby Emma. She was throwing up, 105 fever, and so dehydrated it took them 8 tries to get an iv in. If they didnt get it that time they would have gotten it into her bone. Turns out her cold I had taken her in for the week before had turned into pneumonia. They took her by ambulance to nearest ped unit where she spent 2 days on heavy antibiotics and fluids. Her white cell count was at 50 which led them to believe she had bacteria in her blood. She started doing better so they released her. Fast forward to the fifth I take her to her follow up and she was having a hard time breathing. Back to ER where the dr noticed her heart didnt sound right. He ordered xray and echo and found that her heart was enlarged and surrounded by fluid. She was airlifted to Stanford while we drove up, a four hour drive. They called on the way to consent for surgery. They removed 125cc, a coke can worth of staph infected fluid from around her heart! We are still in the hospital, should be released tomorrow. She is doing leaps and bounds better, they put in a picc line so we can administer three more weeks of antibiotica at home. Please say a prayer for a continued speedy recovery!

Happy to hear she's doing much better. My youngest had a staph infection as a newborn. It is very frightening.
