I'm so scared and happy for him at the same time..I know he can't wait to be more independant! I know I need to let him grow up... I'm so afraid he will get into a accident and die It's hard to let go of my babies....

My son will be 16 in Feb and is all set to take his test. He took Driver's Ed this semester and the instructor will take him to take his test at some point in the Driver's Ed car. I am a wreck. He is so excited because he is also buying a truck this week. He got a job and saved up and found a used 1980 something Ford Ranger for 600.00. It has some body rust but it's in good shape, drives great, great tires and is 4 wheel drive. Dh and I think it's a great first vehicle and it's a great price.

I understand your fear. I feel it myself. We are just going to let ds drive short distances, always with an adult at first and work his way up. But every stinking time he goes off I know I will be on pins and needles until he gets home safely! HUGS!!

My dd will be 20 in June and has no desire what so ever to get her license. Thank goodness!

Best of luck to Kody ! I know this is a scary time for you, been there 4 times and every single time was just as scary as the first. But, it's a milestone for your son.

Well, maybe it's 3 for me technically...2nd oldest (son) refused to put in the time I required with me riding along in order for him to get his license. So, he had to wait until he turned 18 since I refused to sign for him. Not sure who is more stubborn, him or me .

    Good luck to Kody!

I know I will feel the same way. It will be very nerve wracking to have my babies out driving.

How scary for mom and way cool for him!

I have a 15 yr old that is almost 16 (whoa, like in a few weeks). He has no interest in driving. In a way, I am sort of glad. The few times we have had him drive the car down the driveway, well, the last time he high centered the Nissan on a railroad tie. Yeah, him waiting to drive isn't a bad thing.

Hang in there, I know just how you feel! My 16 yr. old son is driving now too, and I do a lot of praying! Especially when the roads are snowy or icy! We do a lot of checking up on him to make sure he is safe, and are glad he is not allowed to drive friends until he is 17 and has some time under his belt.

    Hugs to you!

Hugs to all of the mommas who are in the time realm of having teenage drivers. But just remember that just because they have that license does not mean that you have to let them use it. lol that was my hubbies favorite form of punishment after the kids got them. Suspending the license for x number of days. But it also seemed to have been the most effective. Good luck all.

Well, I let Kody take his little brother with him to buy Chinese food to celebrate his day and on the way home they are picking up my oldest son from a friend's house..I'm watching the clock closely! I wish my dh whom is in Florida working for a few more week's can't celebrate it with us was here..I'm really trying not to look at this as a negative thing right now..because all I can see is him getting into a accident and killing all of the kid's...Oh boy I need to stop letting my mind run away with so many bad thoughts..I now need to teach or pay someone to teach my oldest son how to drive..I sheltered him where my younger 2 boy's do know how to drive..I think if it was my youngest son driving I wouldn't be so worried..he is very responsible and I trust him to obey the rules..
