    Default Feeling a little excited

As some of you know I have been teaching English for a few years (on a freelance/voluntary basis which in my case meant that I was on a quite small maximum salary per month as laid out by our IRS).

One of my sons is actually my boss at one of the schools I teach.
He kept saying to me that I should apply for a VAR statement from our IRS.
This is - roughly translated - an Independent Contractor Status Statement - which means that I am an actual one-person business in the eyes of our IRS.

    I applied on-line this morning - .

As soon as everything is sent back - anything from 1 to 8 weeks. I will officially be in business for myself which will mean that - although slightly more complicated for me regarding tax forms and tax deductions etc, I will be able to determine my own prices and salary.

That's great Dutchie ! I don't know how many extra tax forms it will be for you but, here if the business is small enough there are only 2 extra forms.
