Is it like this at your store?
Is it like this at your store? And if so is it normally like that? And if not why is it like this?
Our walmart has so much clearance.
Chrisrmas decorations and candy are gone but Christmas appearl and Christmas jewlery is plentiful and only 50% off.
In ordinary clearance there is still Thanksgiving stuff and only a slight discount.
There are still tons of coats but the strangest is there is still plenty of spring and summer woman's and juniors clothing from last year and it is not discounted much yet."Everyday as your walking down the street, everybody that you met has an original point of view" -Arthur PBS

Not usually. In the past we had one aisle of clearance items but now there are several and this is only in the past month. Very odd things too that I've never seen for sale there as in clothing. Most of it looks very low quality too.

I don't shop at Walmart, I shop at Meijer. Meijer is really good about clearancing out items in a timely fashion. Once an item hits clearance it takes 3-4 weeks for the 80% off to kick in. From time to time they even have coupons out that cut clearance items even more.

It's that way at our walmart too. Usually this stuff is clearanced out dirt cheap to get it out of there. But it all is only at 50% off. I don't think things are selling as well and they are trying to make up the difference but I don't see it happening.

Seems to be the same here too. there is an isle near the garden center that has all the random clearance items from all over the store and holiday leftovers. Nothing seems to be a bargin to me. I don't buy many clothes there but I guess they have a few racks of clearance items of them.

I've noticed the same pattern here (and I really am eying those thanksgiving platters and tablerunners, but not at that price!!)

Hit Goodwill instead, they get lots of dumpings..er..donations from both Walmart and Target. One time we were able to get 4 pairs of shoes for $1 EACH brand new from Target and just happened to be our sizes. Seriously don't care what year they were "hot", I just want shoes that fit and new is so great!!

I don't know. For awhile now every time I go in WalFart I go in straight to the grocery straight to what I'm in there for and try not to go anywhere near the other sections. I don't have much of a problem with this anymore unless hubby is with me. UGH!
However the other places I went after Christmas didn't seem to discount much. I did notice that. I didn't go out until a few days later but I didn't even see much 50% off of anything.Bank of America is THE godfather of Hell with Wells Fargo running neck and neck. When the world ends the only things that will be left are cockroaches, Walmart, Wells Fargo and Bank of America. Not necessarily in that order. The order remains to be seen.

Yep, I have noticed that, not so much in Walmart because I rarely go there, but in other stores. And, my local store used to discount things 50% in their clearance sections and I noticed that the discount isn't 50% anymore, more like 30 to 40% off instead.

I haven't been to a WalMart in years, but always wondered about the clearances at stores for holiday stuff, why they don't save it for the next year. Maybe they have a contractural obligation to take the new stuff every year. Also the great sales the day after on things like decorations-that's when I'd buy if I was buying!

Ditto. their dishtowels were more expensive in the clearance then multipacks not on clearance in the regular aisle. I hate Walmart but some things like puppy chow are deals so off i go head hung low.

I'm pretty sure Wal-Mart does the same thing as Zellers in that they pack up all of their Christmas stuff and leave only a small amount left on extreme clearance.

Walmart was near empty last night. I stopped in to get puppy chow. They have 75% off on some things and it's junk. Nothing back in the garden center was a good deal. But then again it was Thurs.,the day before payday.

are you talking about the Christmas clearance or all clearance?
Our Walmart has taken to putting up "Clearance" balloons that actually say clearance on them. They put these on the racks of clothing and the aisles that have clearance. It looks like a party in there with some many balloons.
Jc Penney recently changed their pricing system red means everyday price ( regular price ) white means on sale this month and blue is called Best price ( clearance) the store sure had tons of blue tags.
It almost seems that no one is buying anything. I did buy two clearance Bermuda shorts ( have to have long shorts to met dress codes of 8 inch inseams) off of the website for Little Miss $5 each They now have free shipping to the store always."Everyday as your walking down the street, everybody that you met has an original point of view" -Arthur PBS

i work in one of their supper centers the stuff from last year that may have been marked way down automatically goes backup in price after so long same with the thanksgiveing stuff. it almost impossible to keep the price tags updated with the lower prices in clearence when they throw it all in one spot, not uncommon for it be marked with a price thats 50% and ring at 75%
