If that's a good price, and it doesn't come around often, I don't see why you should fret. I would find ways to stretch the meat, though.
I just made some ground beef for burritos, and added in quinoa, carrots, and celery. All three are pretty cheap, but healthy, and add good bulk and taste.

If you have the money I would. I just paid $3.69 for 85/15 hamburger. Take advantage of it while you can. Agree with other poster. Stretch it as far as you can and make it last as long as possible. More bang for your buck.

Costco has it for that as a regular price here. But if beef is going up-again,maybe I'll grab a bunch myself.

Listening to a tv farm program this weekend about farmers and the cost of meat. Their suggestion was to buy now if you wanted beef, because the price is only going to go one direction, UP.
There was a drought last summer. Animals went to slaughter due to high prices for hay and grain.
It's going to be awhile before those pastures can be regrown.
Also beef is being exported for good dollar amounts.
It boils down to if you want it, you will pay for it.--------My signature--------

I would take advantage of this sale now if you have the funds..I just passed up getting 80/20 on sale @ $2.69lb..Instead I needed to save the money to fix our hot water furnace..I do have quite a bit of hamburg foodsavered from several months ago so I'm okay for awhile..Besides what you have mention on the freezer meals have you thought of cooking the beef up and put into indivisual servings? I do this to save room in my freezer as well as the convience...

wow, does it really cost that much? Last time I bought hamburg I think it was $.99 a pound. I don't buy it anymore, sometimes I get some in trade from our neighbor who is a dairy farmer. Now THAT is good stuff!! Just about the only meat we eat is from them or some deer hunters we know.
The stuff that comes from the supermarket, I will pass....too many unknowns.

Well, I don't know any dairy farmers, but the only way I get my ground beef is by picking out a roast, and having the butcher in the store grind it up for me. I like knowing what I'm actually getting, and I keep an eye out for the sales. Believe it or not, it turns out cheaper this way more than you might realize.
