We already have ppl "crunching numbers" for an offer on our house!
This is great.... and not... all at the same time.
I want to get outta here and back in IA sooo badly.. BUT, we have kids that are in 8th, 7th, and K. We'd really like them to be able to finish their school year at the (lame) school that they go to. Lame, yes. But the end of the year would be less disruptive than a spring time move.
having said that, there is NO WAY we would look a gift horse in the mouth... they live in MN, and were out last week looking.... they looked all over and LOVED our home. They came back for 2 hours on sat......
I;'m praying for an offer.... and I'm praying hubby takes it. We are going to loose money on this house (we bought for 415, and are listing for 370... in a falling market - fortunatley housing is less expensive in IA (even in the more pricey area we are going to buy in).

Best of luck in the selling of your house. A little bit of haggling always goes on in the selling of a house unless the people looking really, really want it bad. When we bought our house we offered 15% below what they listed at and ended up settling for 10% off what they listed it for and they paid 1/2 the closing costs. By the same token when the property next to us went up for sale we offered exactly what they were asking plus, we offered to pay off the road assessment...because, we wanted the property really, really bad.
In this day and age it's definitely a buyers market."Life is what happens while you are busy making other plans." John Lennon

Sending good thoughts and a prayer that your house sells fast, seems like everything is fitting together smoothly for you! Hope it all keeps going your way!

Good luck.
It's not necessarily a bad thing for the kids to move mid-year. That way, they get to make some friends before summer vacation and they're also no longer the 'new kids' in the fall when starting school after summer is chaotic and hectic enough.
Not only that, but if they're moving from a poor school to a better one, they may be temporarily behind the other kids. If they move in this early in the year, that can be identified and they may be able to catch up in summer school if it's available. I'm sure that wouldn't thrill them, but it's better than starting a new grade behind the other kids.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

well, we got our low LOW offer today. it was for 340... so 30 under, but still an offer... not only that, they want in MARCH 2..... um, yea, we cannot do that~
so, we are countering tomorrow for more money, and more more time... we will be there sooner than originally expected: which is great... and stressful all at the same time!

I'll keep you all posted!

I'll be thinking of you Traci and hoping for the best for you.
Personally I think that - in this market - the fact that there are people
interested in buying your house is great news. Even the nicest houses that are for sale here are not selling with no one even coming to look.
I agree with what Spirit Deer said about moving the kids half way through the year - it could turn out to be a good thing.
I'll keep my fingers crossed for you that things work out how you want them to work out.

We sold our home during 2009: very bad economy. As believers, we purposed that our home did not belong to us; it was His. And He could and would sell His house anytime He wanted. Soooo.... knowing God's timing was perfect, we felt a load lifted off our backs. It sold at the right time, at the right price. And in that economy, it was evident that it was a miracle!
