Do you think?
That turkey meatballs, Italian style in sauce, served on a platter with toothpicks would be appropriate Super Bowl snack food?
What I know we are having
Hot dogs, 2 kinds of mustard and onions
Air popped popcorn
A birthday (lightened up, vegetables added) cake
Celery and peanut butter
What I think I'll make is fried carrot potato cakes, still not sure. I'd like to add more, but I'm trying to be fairly healthy.~~~

The meatballs sound good. If you have a couple of cans of fruit you can add some diced apple and grapes to it and you have a fruit salad.
What time is the party? lol

Have any sort of fresh fruit that would go with them??
I plan on using up some odd apples I have.......(a total mix)........tossing in a can of mandarins and ???.........with orange juice/honey dressing (that keeps the apples from turning)....not heavy, but light and refreshing.

Nope, just mangoes. But your idea sounds lovely.
I though I'd do this instead of fried potato/carrot pancakes, so baked not fried potatoes.
I haven't had a knish in years!

LOL! @ O's Mom. You're always welcome at my table

I'm still working out the kinks here. But at this moment I've knishes in the oven. I could not do the filling for above recipe, so I winged it with a mentally stored recipe of a very secret recipe, *Shhhh* I used instant mashed potato flakes, caramelized onions, garlic powder, some oil, some margarine, a knorr chicken cube crushed "a secret ingredient", and hold your hat, about a tablespoon of sugar, another secret ingredient that changes everything.
Looking at Libby's recipe & Contrary Housewife's recipe. Thinking of combining the two, maybe? Need to see about ingredients. But bacon is on the stove as I type. I kept thinking I had a half a pack I had in the freezer. Found it under pig skin I have freezer wrapped to render later. So TBC......~~~

Polly, didn't get to read all the posts, but if I was serving the meatballs, I do it either "slider" style sandwiches on mini rolls/buns, tomato sauce along with melted mozzerella or at least sprinkled with parmesan. If I served it w/toothpocks, I'd surround it with a loaf of sliced garlic/cheese bread. This is just what my own family would love.
Let us know! I'm sure it'll work out one way or another. I never watched anybody pass on meatballs any way they were done!
Theresa
polly, just remembered.....if you have them handy, you can substitute the mini rolls/buns for hot dog rolls. just line the meatballs up on them, and slice after you baked a bit. And also, there's been more than once, I've even made garlic "bread" with hot dog rolls. sometimes you just gotta do what you gotta do...lol!
