watching a new release dvd -an oberservation in price
So I want to see a particular new dvd release.
I looked at the prices options available to me for the same new release movie.
I could instant download it and watch it right then for $3.99. Watch it and be done with it. always available no late fee. It just disappears.
Or I could drive or walk to a redbox and rent it for $1.30 plus tax if they had it ( they might have them all rented out so I might have to wait my turn and check back until I find it there). Take it home and watch it and drive or walk to return it the next day. Forget and return it late extra $1.30 plus tax a day
OR I could see if my library has it. If they do have it ( i might have to wait for someone else to return it but I can place it on hold and they will let me know when it is my turn). I can borrow it for free. walk or drive to pick it up. watch it as many times as I can in one week. then walk or drive to return it. Forget it and return it late a $1 a day.
Which is the better deal? Depends how patient you can be, How forgetful you are, and how much work you want to do to get the movie.
I wanted to watch a new release.
Found it on the the library online catalog. Placed a hold on Friday. Sunday they had it ready for us. It was our turn. We picked it up Sunday when we were there. We will watch it and return it next Sunday. The price is right for me. I don't mine waiting and I don't mind going to the library to return it ( normally check out a few books and maybe an another dvd while there)."Everyday as your walking down the street, everybody that you met has an original point of view" -Arthur PBS

The library is a such a great resource. I still can't believe we have a city councilman who wants to close our local library because he doesn't see any point to having one and thinks it's a waste of money. Amazing, the ignoramuses who get elected.

our library has ahorrible selection of movies. we used to buy before frugalness a new movie every week but hubby only semmed to buy ones he liked so since he didn't share i made him quit. This weekend he bought 2 prewatched movies and paid 10. I bought one new movie for my self 5. he bought gullivers travels with jack black, battle los angleous, I bought ps i love u..new films would be cheaper for us hubby will forget about them and late fees the lastone was 10, one was 25... so it is about what u are comfortable with. we don't do redbox because it would be wow....he alos hides them from me like a child. silly man but watching movies at home is definately the cheapest form of entertainment.

I hadn't even thought about buying them. That would be another price option.
I use to think that our library had a terrible selection of movies before i looked on line the new ones go from hold to hold with out hitting hte shelves for a while. So now I know to look in the catalog."Everyday as your walking down the street, everybody that you met has an original point of view" -Arthur PBS

I also am in love with our library. If I ever get a day to spend by myself that's where I choose to go. Forget the spa or shopping I just get a thrill from all those books and things to choose from!

Yes I have yet to try it though. I have only rented one since the price change. Little Miss was begging for it and I thought I had a free coupon ( but it had been used already or had expired? anyway it didn't work)
Is it easy to do? How do you pick it up? Maybe if I had a walked though for it then it would be easier for me to try.
Believe me that extra .30 cents plus tax was been a mental block for me. I might be more likely to rent if I can get it back down to my thrush hold of $1."Everyday as your walking down the street, everybody that you met has an original point of view" -Arthur PBS

Do you select the redbox location you want to reserve at by clicking the rent button?
When you pick up at the redbox do you chose the dvd you want at the redbox or is there another button that says picking up a reserved or something like that? Or do you just walk up the redbox and swipe your card?"Everyday as your walking down the street, everybody that you met has an original point of view" -Arthur PBS

Have noticed that redbox gives promo codes which you need to go to the redbox location not over the internet to use. For me redbox is the easiest since there is one basically in my backyard.
When I had a car the local library was great for picking up a movie rental.
