I'll admit it, I'm a hopeless romantic, and I'm a sucker for a good love story! Since it's almost Valentine's Day, I want to hear all your love stories! How your met your SO, the most romantic thing that's ever happened to you, or whatever you want!

I'm a sucker for a love story as well! My husband and I have been together since we were in high school. He was a junior and I was a sophomore. We met at lunch, I said hi to him and we've been together since. Guess I had him at hello...

I have some time now, so I'll share mine. It does get kinda long!

There's a little back story to this, too. Way back, when I was 20, I had a boyfriend who ended up being a big mistake. When I broke up with him, he threatened to kill himself. (He didn't, by the way--he ended up marrying my brother-in-law's cousin. My sister says she's a mousy little thing, not nearly as good as me!

) Anyways, back to the story. I did have a short 'fling' with a guy I worked with, but he was a jerk. So, within 6 months, and two horrible guys, I wanted nothing to do with any male!

My best friend had also just gotten out of a relationship with a controlling jerk. We spent our time together, having a great time being single girls, but every once in a while, we'd have a conversation about what we wanted in a man.

Well one night in May, we each made a detailed list. It covered everything we wanted, from looks to personality and everything in between.

I would say, less than a week later, on a Tuesday night we were in a local park to take some pictures of ourselves. (We had been friends all our lives, but we had no nice photos of ourselves together.) As we were walking down the path, we noticed a football game going on way on the other side of the field. We neared the end of the path to the place we wanted to take the photos, and the football game had moved itself over so that we were in the middle of it! There were probably 6 or 8 clean-cut, fit guys in the group. We ignored them, but a couple of them were a little more persistent. One of them came over and started asking me about my camera and photography, which I was very interested in at the time. Now, you have to understand, I am short and brunette, and my friend is tall and blonde. I am used to guys seeing her first and making a beeline to her, but this guy, didn't exactly ignore her, but all his attention was on me. We ended up talking to this guy and his friend for a couple of hours in the park. We found out that they were in the army, and they had just arrived in our city from basic training. They had been with their unit for about a week.

Since they were new to the city, my friend and I said 'Oh, we have a car, we'll show you around!' Kinda dumb now that I think about it, since these guys could have been axe murderers for all we knew! They weren't, thank goodness, and we took them on a tour of the city. We spent another hour or two, sitting at the front gate of the army base before we dropped them off, and my guy asked for my phone number. I gave it to him, expecting to never hear from him again.

To my surprise, he called the next day, and asked if I wanted to go to the zoo, which was in the same park we met. I went, and that was our first date. He tried to kiss me, but I kind of put him off. I took him back to the base, and he kissed me goodbye there. It was the most amazing thing! We sat back, looked at each other, and I turned the car around and drove to an empty parking lot where we made out for hours!

I was still living with my parents, and that Friday they went away for the weekend, and he came to stay for the weekend.

He told me that he loved me within a week of meeting each other, and after 3 months told me he was going to marry me one day. That was in 1990, and we were married in 1993.

It hasn't been the easiest life, with him in the army. In the years we've been together, he's been away for probably 1/3 of that. But I wouldn't trade it for anything!

Oh, and that list that I made? He pretty well had everything I had asked for. I'm thinking someone was listening, and put him in my path that day.

Mine is not romantic at all but funny.
I was friends with my dh's mother (we worked together) so she asked me to house sit for her while she was on vacation. I couldn't find the kitty litter so I called him and asked. He came over to her house as I was pulling in the drive. So the first words I said were "Hi do you know where the kitty litter is?" LOL But we are still together 12 years later so I guess my "sweet talk" worked!

My first marriage wa horrible and 2 bad relationships afterward I wanted nothing to do with men. well I prayed lord if I can't have a good man then keep the bad ones away.
well my friend called and wanted me to be designated so I did I had 1 and coke the reat of the night she was sloshed..well I sat most of night with a male friend and laughed at my female friend. he left and this little man came over drunk and said I like big girls. the fight was on. he wanted to dance with me i told him to kiss my ass my friend amde me dance with him. well the bar closed he helped me carry to the car. he said can u drop me off I said yes I could I know stupid....but my friend was so drunk I had to get her to the house and bed so he went with me.

well needless to say she passed and I watched like a hawk so he would not rape her or me . we stayed up all night talking the next day I took her home and he took me out to eat.
The next day i had my first seziure he took me the hospital and stayed with me.
My daughter stayed with my best friend. My mom tried to say I was on drugs and tried to put me into a psyc hospital. The doctor told i wasn't on drugs i was sick.
he stayed in my house what time I was in hospital forgot he was there. he done all my dirty laundry ( I was behind it was like 20 loads), helped my kid with her homework, bought groceries, flowers for me, filled my gas tank up. took me home and cared for me
It was love at first sight for him and love at second sight for me..He is a pain in the butt sometimes but he is a real good man.

I met my dh in highschool. He was a year ahead of me and in the class with my best friend. we were friends for along time and he started dating my best friend.He always invited me to go along with them everywhere. I broke them up. Our running story is I took my bestfriends boyfriend and married him. We will be married 25 years in Dec and together nearly 28years. TC

I met my dh at work. I was working for a small electronics company and we were looking for a new technician. As guys would come in and apply my gf (who was married) and I would make these numbered signs and hold them up as they left. Totally sexist, but hey. He got the highest score from us and he also scored the highest score on this test they had to take to see if they were qualified for the job.

A few weeks went by and we kept bugging the boss on who we wanted him to hire. One day dh called in to check on the job position and my boss was like "I was just going to call you and offer you the position."

After he was hired I had my married gf ask him all the questions like is he married, have a gf, any kids, all the important stuff. He thought I was stuck up because I wouldn't really talk to him.

One morning I was pulling in to work and so was he and he mentioned that my car sounded bad and I said yep it does and he was like I can take a look at that for you. I said sure and when and he was like how about after work. Sounded good to me for sure. He came over and we have been together ever since. We started dating 8/8/88 and were married on 12/10/88 and have just had our 23rd anniv.

He left that job not long after we started dating for a better one. He just worked there long enough to meet me and get married.

I met my dh when I was just 14 and he 19. We met at church. The 1st time he kissed me my toes curled and I knew he was the one. We've been together ever since. Dated for 3 years and a month until I graduated from high school. Got married and this June we will have been married 29 years. He still curls my toes.

I was going through a divorce, worked 2 jobs as a bartender and maid!
It was valentines day and I'd found out I'd been cheated on by the idiot I was dating! Hub's came into my bar all the time, I had a crush on him but was blonde enough I didnt know he had a crush on me LOL
So, the cheater sent me a whole bunch of orchids as an appology/valentines gift I suppose! I started selling them individually to all the guy's in the bar for their girls!!
I tried to sell 1 to hub's for his girlfriend but he said "No thank you Ive got no one to give it to"! We'd talked alot for months before this and this night we talked about what I'd gone through and he understood I was in the "I hate men" mode!!
He took off and I thanked him for listening and being a friend.
About an hour later he showed back up with a dozen roses for me (I'd never had a man give me flowers that were not for cheating before!!)
I asked him what they were for, he said that he wanted me to have flowers from a real valentine just because I deserved them!
A couple of weeks later after I was done being pissed off, he asked me out on a date which was hard to do as a single mom of 3 with 2 jobs but we managed to sneak out to a neighboring bar for a couple hours after my shift and have a late dinner.
We talk about it still, our first kiss! He kissed me goodnight, we both leaned back and at the exact same time sighed, "WOW".... That was the begining of the last 11 years.
Still, often when we kiss one or both of us sigh's "WOW"
