I spend about $100 per month on gas. One car and 15 miles to work. I try to combine trips and I very intentionally got a small efficient car.

We are less than $100 a month unless we go out of town. then it's quite a bit more especially if we go to AZ. (We live in MT.)

Probably about $200 a month, because hubby drives 30 min to work 3 days per week. I go to school once a week 30 min away.

I currently budget $500 a month. Both of us work outside the home. Dh only has about a 3 miles commute. I drive 50 miles per day, but I do work from home 2-3 days per week. DS plays soccer once a week about 20 minutes away. We have to drive the kids to and from school daily as there is no transportation (private school). What is really driving this up right now is DH goes up to snowboard about once per week. he drives a truck that doesn't get the best gas mileage. That really adds up.

~Averaging $130 a month so far this year.
DH commutes about 430 miles a month and uses about $80 in gas for just work commuting. The rest is spent on all other trips/appointments/visiting/shopping. About 700 miles driven total between both cars including commute.
I never count vacations/road trips in the gas budget. When we travel the gas money is filed under vacation.~~Constance

I fill up once a week - about $225 a month. I work 4 days - 45 miles one way. Combine trips/errands as much as possible, only fill up on Wednesday when it's 5 cents off a gallon. Grocery/ Dr /Dentist/ WalMart is other direction 20 miles. I do 'big' shopping every other week or longer (love my stockpile). DH has company truck (thank goodness!!) and travels 500-1,000miles a week. Our other vehicle we've used less than 40 miles a month, so far (new to us in November, snowplow/pickup).

I'm about $225 a month. One car, one driver...me! I live about 45 minutes from work bu I need to detour that to drop my son off in the morning and its further out for me to pick him up.

We spend about $500/month - sometimes more, sometimes less depends on activities & events that month. I try to run errands along the commute route OR group them to be run in one trip.

I started this thread because I would see budgets with 400-500 gas amounts and was shocked. I wouldn't reach that amount if gas was 10 dollars a gallon and that's for 2 cars one of them an old 6 cylinder, I will never grip at the pump again.
Thanks everyone for answering.

My budget says $80 a month but so far have been able to keep it to $65 the past few months. Work is the farthest I drive, its 6.5 miles. All stops are made on the way home and I'm a super-home-body.
Occasionally a family birthday event will be out of town. For some of those I will skip the event and meet everyone in town after the event for the "rest of the birthday" of cake, ice cream, presents, dinner stuff. I figure its still spending 4 hours or so with the family and birthday person."If you can't see the light at the end of the tunnel, march down there and light it yourself."
Car loan (ugh, again!)
Husband's debt to work on, mine is gone except car loan. w00t!
Yah, I suck at this money stuff, I know. That's why I'm here.

We spend about $350 a month. DH's work is a 6 hr drive out of town - he spends a week there and then a week home. He does a 6 hr road trip each week, but otherwise the car sits while he's at work. I only use my car while he's gone to run errands, all close to home.
