What are your plans for summer that will save you $$$?
I know that with the price of gas we will not be able to afford to take the joy rides like we use to in the past..
I look forward to reading your responses..Wife to Keith

Building a deck ourselves. That should save us 2/3 of the cost since labor is always the biggest expense when hiring construction done.
I guess we'll be saving money fixing the broken lifter on our camper, too. The dealer wants $120 for a $10 part, plus labor of $100 or so per hour, plus we'd have to take it back to Michigan. Yeah, that'll happen.
We be camping somewhere in a state park because we have two free nights of camping to use before the end of June, so that'll be somewhere nearby, maybe on Lake Superior.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I plan on spending 12 weeks on maternity leave, so that should cut down on driving (no commute!) and eating out lunch when I go to work. Probably less laundry, too since I'll be able to wear the same pair of jeans all week.

The only thing I can think of off the top of my head right now is gardening - learning more and tending to it more. Probably staying at home, no travel.
ETA: Probably just continue decluttering the house and getting it finally organized.2013: Year Two Of The Purge!

we'll be camping a bit (only 60 miles away to the lake, so not too bad for gas), and I'm going to be keeping busy with some projects around the house and gardening. Might put the pool back up for the kids...

Saving Water/Cash
I have decided to shower only once a week unless it rains and I can collect rainwater for bathing...
Haha! Kidding! I won a Caroma showerhead on the sustainable solutions facebook page and installed it yesterday (phew). Apparently it will save me about a third of the water i usually use. Additionally, I am aiming to shave a few minutes off my shower to keep it to ten minutes or so.
In California, we are facing a continuation of a pretty bad drought. This winter we got less than 50% of our typical rainfall so I'm expecting additional water restrictions and surcharges this summer..

I'll be riding my bike A LOT to keep the car parked. I ride to work most days. And I often ride all over town for errands. I try to run the car once a week or less, it's good to run it some. I save that for stock-up grocery runs or a few other trips where a bike is not as practical.
I'll be hitting yard sales - on the bike. Then if I don't buy anything I still got a good bike ride in!
We will do a few hiking or camping trip close to home, not more than a couple hours drive away.

Got the moped out and tuned up. I will be riding it back and forth to work and on short errands around town as much as I can.
Going to our cabin in the woods much more often for little get-aways.
Hopefully eating out of a bountiful garden, which means lots of veggies on the grill.
Staying away from stores and all other temptations. Continuing to live out of my envelope system so that I don't have to part with my cold hard cash.
Taking on more mystery shopping jobs so that DH and I can enjoy more FREE meals and FREE activities.
Saying yes when asked to fill in more at the grocery so my paychecks can be bigger.
Eating and snacking less overall.
Watching less TV & taking more surveys on the internet for cash.
Selling my jewelry & handmade goods at the Saturday morning Farmers Market. Also selling a family recipe of fruit cocktail cake & donuts.
Hiking/walking more with friends for entertainment.
