Yes,I was dedicated enough to get a tattoo that says "Debt-Free."
Or rather than dedicated enough. Maybe crazy enough? Stupid enough?!
Either way, there has been some interest in the fact that I have a tattoo that proclaims my debt-free status
This was when I paid off my credit card debt in 2008. It says Debt-Free 2008. Right under that it says "Galveston 2009." That was where I had my celebratory swim in the ocean--and paid for the trip in cash.
I just paid off my house, so I will be getting another that says "House 2012."
And then I'm done with tattoos, they hurt! But they don't hurt as much as being in debt.
The pic is in in my "albums" if you click on my user name. I haven't been on forum long enough so they don't allow me to post URL links yet, or I would give you a direct link. But if you click on my username and then click on "albums" it's there. I think.

Thank you ARCMOMMY! The place I got the tattoo was like a biker place. Really tough guys all around. They are getting tattoos of skulls and flames and whatnot.
I walk in and say "Hi, um, I'd like to get a tattoo that says Debt-Free to celebrate that I paid off all of my credit cards and loans! Is that doable?"
The tattooist (his name is Tick), looks at me and says: "So I take it you're paying cash?"
True story. He did mention that he had never given anyone a tattoo quite like that. I asked.

Ok so ordinarily I would say Hey Tattoos are frugal? no way! But when you pay off a house and credit card and pay cash for the tattoo, who am I to say anything. Thats why we work so hard to save money to splurge on something we want. And I know it will remind you when your out and about to pay cash and think over purchases. BESIDES if you debt up again you have to tattoo NOT in front of the debt free.lol and you KNOW that will hurt in more than one way!!!!!
Oh and congrats!

LOL Yes, it was paid for in cash and it was to celebrate. And I never take vacations--that trip was the first one I had been on since I was a child. And the whole trip, counting tattoo, was around $300. All paid for in cash that I saved up.
And I would be a total loser if I had a debt-free tattoo and then got back into debt! So it does keep me on my goal.

Looks very painful but if you had the ability to do what you have done I am sure you handled that just fine!

Congratulations on becoming free of debt! For some reason, your tattoos remind me of the movie Memento.
