So frustrated!
My work mails my paycheck. They said they mailed it on Friday, its not here yet! They told me I had to wait for 10 days then they will issue me a new one. If I want a new one now it will be $38 for a stop payment. Well I have an automatic withdraw that just overdrew my account! I am ticked! I DEPEND on that money! Then to turn around and tell me that I should suffer the consequences when its not my fault totally ticks me off!

I agree, it would be maddening. However, what you need to do now is stop it from happening again.
Can you get direct deposit, or better yet, stop that auto-withdrawal?Last edited by Russ; 05-08-2012 at 11:13 AM.

That's weird that happened to me before, but my boss went to the main office had the accounting department issue me another check the next day. And put a stop payment on the missing one.

Seems like it would be better for both you and the company if they had direct deposit. Maybe you could sell them on the idea. Saves them postage.

They do have direct deposit available but I have worked there for 3 years and Ive always done it this way, and Ive always gotten my check. But I have it all worked out to not happen in the future but I cannot believe that company policy of the 10 day wait or the employee paying the fee! Thats just crazy!

We have direct deposit and sometimes it has issues as well. Dh gets paid on Thursday. If Thursday is a bank holiday then we are supposed to get it on Wednesday. There have been two occasions that we didn't get it until Friday though which messes things up for me!
I hope your check arrives soon! And your bank doesn't charge you for the overdraw on your account!

yeah thats what I was trying to avaoid because at other employers I have had direct deposit and they have messed that up before, thats why I did the paycheck to my home thing. I can see that it could get lost in the mail. I am understanding of that. What I cannot understand is how they don't want to make it right. Right away. I think THEY should have cut me a check yesterday (at the lastest) and THEY pay the stop payment fee.

BTW, in the future, if you can get some money into the bank before the end of the day you may avoid the overdraft fee. In other words if you have a negative balance at some point during the day, but by the end of the day you are back to having money (you would have to deposit cash or transfer from a savings account at the same bank) they will not charge you a fee. At least that is the way my bank does it.
I feel for you, I have struggled with banks and fees in my time.

You can always re-address the issue with your company. Ask to speak with a supv or your manager and re-explain the situation. First state how long you have been with the company and this is the first time this has happened, etc. It can't hurt to try again. They could make an exception since you have been working for them for three years and it is the first time this has happened.

Gosh! I have nothing to add to the conversation other than I have been through that before as well. It's very frustrating, so I feel for you.
It does seem to me that the company should be doing the work at getting this figured out rather than you having to mess with it so much...

I think its frustrating that they can't simply hand out paychecks at work. Simple, straight forward, no third party issues.

Thank you everyone!
I have a plan in place for it not to happen again but believe me I did voice my displeasure greatly!
lol
But I have been watching the videos and reading the blog on manvsdebt and he relly got me with the question "what does freedom mean to you?" I thought to myself "right now to me freedom would mean that if I don't get paid on time or something happens I won't have to worry that something would bounce" so that is what will be solved in a couple weeks with having a decent amount of cash in that account. Then I am going to be gazelle about the debt!Me: Heather

it's true. Boosting up your savings will really help in times like this. Before I had a decent savings, it seemed like an emergency was always happening. Now my life is fairly uneventful--thank goodness!
It's amazing how having a little savings changes everything...
